LAKEWOOD, NJ (May 7, 2023) - The 2023 CACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships are complete and after leading through day one, Georgian Court was unable to repeat as champions. The men took second place overall and the women were in third.
On the men's side, Georgian Court won seven events while the Lion women had event winners in three. GCU men won three of four throwing events along with the pole vault and three distance races from 3,000m and up. The women won three of four jumps events.
Jumps Day 1
• Day one saw the long jump and pole vault get underway.
Aniyah Russell repeated as champion with a season-best jump of 19-11. That's a new meet record and a new GCU outdoor record as well.
• Also scoring for the Lions in the long jump were
Shalom Adzakro who jumped 16-11.25 for seventh place which is ninth all-time at Georgian Court.
Elena Martinez-Rodriguez jumped 16-7.75 to place eighth and earn a point.
• Georgian Court swept the medal stand in the women's pole vault.
Julia Kirschnick was the winning jumping 10-8.

Nina Casalino took second at 9-3 and
Tiffany Parajon third at 7-9.25.
•
Jan Volkmar needed just two jumps to win the pole vault on the men's side. He came in at 4.50m, didn't clear on his first attempt, but did so on his second to win the event. His mark of 14-9 is a new meet record.

Julian Rodriguez took second place in the vault jumping 12-9.5 and
Sean Donnamaria was sixth at 11-3.75.
• Volkmar was also third in the long jump. He matched a PR jumping 23-0.
Dylan Breen finished in eighth place jumping 21-6.75.
Jumps Day 2
• Day two of jumps saw another event winner on the women's side. That was
Shanae Rayside who became the first Lion to ever jump 12 meters. She won the event jumping 40 feet even which is an NCAA qualifying mark.

Elena Martinez-Rodriguez hit a season-best jumping 36-9.75 for fourth place.
Jaison-Ashley Pleva also scored at 36-6.25 which put her seventh in the competition.

Tiffany Parajon and Martinez-Rodriguez finished in sixth and seventh in the high jump. They both cleared 4-9.75 with Parajon taking sixth due to number of attempts.
• The GCU men had two place in the triple jump.
Jeshurun Devero was second with a mark of 47-5 and
Dylan Breen eighth at 40-11.
Throws Day 1
• Georgian Court men won both throwing events on day one.
Robbie Babson secured the hammer throw with a mark of 161-2.

Joseph Sauchelli is also a repeat champion after throwing the javelin 186-11, a season-best and just a little shy of an NCAA qualifying mark.
•
Jan Volkmar threw the javelin as well and was second with a new personal-best 184-5. That's the third-best mark in school history.
• Two on the women's side scored in the javelin.
Sheridan Martinez was second throwing 127-1.
Julia Kirschnick set a personal-best throwing 105-6 for fifth place.
•
Elena Keck was the second-place finisher in the hammer throw with a throw of 141-10.
Throws Day 2
•
Robbie Babson came back on day two to win another CACC title. He took first place in the shot put throwing 52-3.25. Babson was also sixth in the discus throwing 120-8.

Jan Volkmar picked up two more medals. He was second in the discus throwing a personal-best 142-7 which moved him to seventh all-time at GCU. He was also third in the shot put with another PR throw, 46-0.75.

Elena Keck scored in a pair of throwing events Sunday. She set a new personal-best in the discus throwing 114-8 to place sixth. She was also fifth in the shot put at 38-5.5.
Track Day 1
• The only finals event on the track was the 10,000m and the only runner GCU entered was
Alec Valle. He secured the win for the Lions running 33:30.35 on a hot day for a 10K.
• The preliminary rounds were run for everything at 400m and less. In the 100m
Aniyah Russell won the prelims at 12.62 which is fifth-best all-time at GCU.
•
Noah Roach set a new school record in the 200m running 22.03. That advanced him into tomorrow's finals. Roach also ran 11.13 in the 100m which was one spot out of finals in ninth.
•
Wayne Robinson won his heat in the 400m in 50.05 which is second all-time at GCU. He was ninth at 200m running 22.25.
•
Terrell Moore is also moving on to the finals in the 400m. He was right behind Robinson running 50.07 which is third all-time.
Domenico Darcy ran a personal-best 50.90 which is ninth at GCU and placed him 16th.
•
Aaliyah Thorpe represented GCU in the 400m and was 10th in 1:03.30.
•
Julian Rodriguez will run in the finals of both the 110m and 400m hurdles. He was third in the intermediate running 56.39 and fifth in the high at 15.54, a new personal-best.
• Rodriguez will be joined by
Jan Volkmar who ran 15.16 in the 110m hurdles to place third in the prelims and move into third all-time on the GCU best-of list.

Jaison-Ashley Pleva is moving to the finals in the women's 100m hurdles. She too ran a personal-best 15.43.
Track Day 2
Sprints/Hurdles
• The Georgian Court men scored some points in the longer sprint events.
Wayne Robinson and
Terrell Moore went back-to-back in the 400m dash. Both times would have set new school records. Robinson's is the one currently atop the best-of list. He finished in third place running 49.26. Moore was fourth running 49.71. They are just the second and third to ever break 50 seconds in the 400m dash at GCU.
•
Julian Rodriguez also set a new school record in the 400m hurdles. He ran 54.15 for third place and is the first Lion to run a sub-55 for the event. Rodriguez was also sixth in the 110m hurdle finals running 15.75.
• Placing fourth in the 110m hurdle finals was
Jan Volkmar who ran 15.35.
•
Noah Roach moved from sixth to fifth in the finals of the 200m dash running 22.27.
•
Aniyah Russell was the leader for 100m after the prelims but finished in fourth place overall running 12.66.
•
Jaison-Ashley Pleva represented GCU in the 100m hurdle finals. she took eighth place running 15.98.
Relays
• GCU had a pair of relay races run. The men took fourth place in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
Noah Roach,
Henry Jean-Michel,
Terrell Moore and
Dylan Breen ran 43.02 in the 4x400m.
•
Domenico Darcy,
Sean Donnamaria,
Kyle Spector and
Xavier Seals finished the 4x400m relay in 3:26.41 which is fifth all-time for the Lions.
• The Lion women were third in the 4x100m relay.
Yanely Bohorquez-Gonzalez,
Shanae Rayside,
Shalom Adzakro and
Aniyah Russell ran the third-fastest time ever at GCU, 48.53.
• The group of
Amirah Beasley,
Niya Barden,
Aaliyah Thorpe and
Molly Burns took fourth in the 4x400m relay in 4:11.50.
Distance
• After winning the 10K yesterday,
Alec Valle came right back to win the 5,000m on Sunday. He finished in 15:41.91 for the win.
• GCU started the day with an event win in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Kyle Spector ran 10:06.22 to become a three-peat champion in the event.
• Both Spector brothers scored in steeplechase.
Will Spector was fourth running 10:43.99.
•
Kyle Spector wasn't finished as he also took eight place in the 800m running 2:00.88.
•
Xavier Seals had two top-eight finished. He was sixth in the 1500m running 4:06.49 and sixth in the 800m at 1:58.76.
• The women's 800m saw
Amirah Beasley and
Niya Barden finish back-to-back. Beasley took fifth place running 2:23.59.
• Barden ran a personal-best time 2:24.48 for sixth place which is eighth all-time at GCU.
