AUSTIN, Texas (June 21, 2023) - Georgian Court Men's Lacrosse senior Daniel Burnham was selected as just the third Georgian Court Academic All-American in program history. Burnham, made the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-American Second Team in the At-Large category. 

Burnham is not only the third Lion to ever be named Academic All-American, he is the first from Lions Men's Lacrosse. He is also the first to ever be named to the Academic All-American Second Team or higher. 

The At-Large category is a catch-all for a number of NCAA sports with a smaller number of sponsorship across the country. This includes lacrosse, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, wrestling, rifle, skiing, water polo, fencing, men's volleyball among others. Of the 47 NCAA Division II Academic All-American's in the At-Large category, 19 came from men's lacrosse. He is also the only men's lacrosse student-athlete from the CACC.

Burnham was a First Team All-CACC midfielder who finished second on the Lions this season with 59 points. He broke the GCU career record for points scored, capping his career with 181. This season he scored 32 goals while matching a career-best 27 assists. Burnham completed his first year of graduate school at Georgian Court and has a 3.94 GPA in Business Administration.

It's a newsworthy day for Burnham, as he's also been chosen as the CACC Student-Athlete of the the Month for the month of May. Burnham led the Lions to a CACC regular season championship and an undefeated 7-0 mark in conference play in 2023. 

Burnham is just the third Lion to be named Academic All-American. He joins Women's Lacrosse's Corinne Coyle who was the first in 2013 and Men's Soccer's Quentin Bouly in 2018. Both made the Academic All-American Third Team.
