QUEENS, NY (Nov. 26, 2024) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer Freshman
Chelsea Lavezzo has done something no one else in the history of the program has during the NCAA era. This afternoon the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) announced their 2024 All-Region teams, headlined by the Lion rookie.
The CACC Rookie of the Year took it a step further and was named the the East Region Player of the Year, a first for Georgian Court in NCAA play.
Lavezzo also was a part of the All-Region First Team. Georgian Court is a member of the East Region along with the other teams in the CACC, the ECC and the Northeast-10 conferences. Lavezzo made the All-CACC First Team as well.
For the year, the freshman from Jackson scored 17 games which has her not only leading the CACC, but is fifth nationally and the most among all freshman. She also leads the CACC with 36 points which is 11th in Division II. Lavezzo scored a goal in 10 games this season and had five multi-goal games with a pair of hat tricks. Of Georgian Court's 12 wins this season, Lavezzo hit the game winner in six of them. She was responsible for the game-winning penalty kick in overtime of the CACC Quarterfinal Round match against Bridgeport. Offense hasn't been Lavezzo's only calling card though. Coach Jim Moore has pushed Lavezzo back to help the defense protect a lead late in games.Â
Lavezzo is one of nine CACC student-athletes on the squad and six on the First Team. She is now eligible not only for a D2CCA All-American award, but will also be up for the National Player of the Year award.Â
