Women’s Soccer Closes Out Regular Season at Chestnut Hill Friday Night

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Nov. 7, 2024) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer finished off its home slate with a resounding 5-0 win over Post on Monday. The Lions close out the regular season on the road on Friday night.

Last Time Out
• A three-goal first half powered Georgian Court to a 5-0 victory over CACC foe Post on Monday.
Sophia Ridolfo scored and added an assist for the second consecutive match while Chelsea Lavezzo earned a brace within a three-minute span in the second half. 
Juliana Rettino and Chiamaka Wokocha each found the scoresheet as well while Breana Parkinson had her second two-assist match of the season.
• The Lions scored five goals in back-to-back matches for the first time since 2016, when they tallied five goals in three consecutive matches. 
• Georgian Court outshot Post, 28-6, setting a new season-high in the process.  
• Despite the heavy advantage in shots, the Lions edged out the Eagles in corner kicks, 3-1. 

Strong Start to Season
• With its 11-4-2 record, Georgian Court is off to its best 17-match start since 2019, when the Lions started 12-4-1.
• GCU's 8-2 record in CACC play is also its best since 2019, when it started 8-1-1 en route to an 9-2-1 conference record.

Lavezzo Levels Up 
• Following Monday's brace, star freshman Chelsea Lavezzo sits tied with Heather Arbachesky for fifth in Lions' single-season history with 16 goals.
• Kelly Lyons holds both the single-season goals record and goals by a freshman with 22 tallies in 2008.
• Lavezzo's 34 points ties her with Lyons for seventh-most in Lions' single-season history. 
• Last Tuesday's hat trick versus Goldey-Beacom earned the forward her sixth CACC Rookie of the Week honor this season. The previous five came in consecutive weeks.
• Lavezzo is the first Lion with two hat tricks in a season since Krystal Hund's 2018 campaign. 
• The freshman is the first Lion with five multi-goal contests since Lyons in 2010. 

Individual Milestones
• Forward Abby Kennelly is two matches away from 70 in her career.
• Senior Juliana Rettino is 85 minutes away from 2,000 in her career.
• Forward Izzy Hernandez is 80 minutes away from 3,000 in her career. 
• Kennelly sits 10th all-time at GCU with 120 shots. Next up is Aliya Canfield with 124 career shots.
Chelsea Lavezzo sits seventh in Georgian Court single-season history with 67 shots. She is two shots behind Anissia Fucci for sixth place. 
• The freshman phenom is tied with Morgan Peacock for 10th all-time in Lions' history with 16 career goals. She is five goals behind Aliya Canfield for ninth all-time.
• Lavezzo sits tied with Heather Arbachesky for fifth in Lions' single-season history with 16 goals. Next up is Kelly Lyons and Elisabeth Kroon with 18 scores.
• The forward's 34 points ties her with Lyons for seventh-most in Lions' single-season history. She is also four points behind Lyons for sixth place.
• With two more assists, Breana Parkinson will move into the program's top-10 in a single season.

CACC Leaders 
• With 15 goals in her last 12 matches, Chelsea Lavezzo is third in Division II and first among freshmen nationally with 16 total goals. The total is tied for the  most goals by a Division II freshman since 2021.
• Lavezzo is also seventh in the nation and first among freshmen nationally with 34 points. 
• Breana Parkinson is third in the CACC with six total assists. 
Seanna Boan is seventh in the CACC with five total assists. 
Emma Bennett is second in the CACC and 24th nationally with a 0.864 save percentage. The senior also sits third in the conference with a 0.848 goals against average. 
• The Lions lead the conference and rank 18th nationally with 33 assists. 
• GCU is third in the CACC with 5.06 corners per match.
• GCU's average of 8.06 shots on goal per match is third in the conference.
• Georgian Court is averaging 2.12 goals per match, third best in the conference.
• Georgian Court's back line has allowed just 16 goals in 17 matches for a 0.941 goals against average, good for fourth in the CACC. 

Who's Hot?
Chelsea Lavezzo has broken out with 15 goals in her last 12 matches. Last Tuesday's hat trick earned the forward her sixth CACC Rookie of the Week honor this season. The previous five came in consecutive weeks.
Chiamaka Wokocha has tallied points in four of her last seven matches away from home, adding an assist in GCU's last road match at Lincoln.
Abby Kennelly has an assist in three of her last five matches, including one in last Tuesday's win. 
Sophia Ridolfo has scored and added an assist in back-to-back matches. 
Delaine Wilkinson has recorded clean sheets in back-to-back starts for the first time in her career.

Series History vs. Chestnut Hill
• Georgian Court has dominated the all-time series, 17-2, which dates back to 2007.
• GCU is undefeated at Chestnut Hill with a record of 8-0.  
• The Lions have only lost once to the Griffins dating back to 2011, falling 2-0 at home in 2021.
• With two goals in the final 10 minutes, GCU defeated Chestnut Hill 2-0 last season, which clinched the Lions spot in the CACC Tournament. 

CACC Playoff Picture
• There is still a lot to be determined regarding the CACC Tournament heading into the final game of the regular season.
• Georgian Court has already clinched a spot and can finish no lower than fourth in the regular season standings, meaning they will host a quarterfinal round game Monday, Nov. 11. 
• They do not know their opponent and if they will be the third or fourth seed.
• Currently, Georgian Court is in third place, two points ahead of Wilmington. A win over Chestnut Hill will lock them into the number three seed while a loss coupled with a Wilmington win over Goldey-Beacom would drop them to fourth.
• Jefferson has already clinched the number one seed while Caldwell is locked in at No. 2.

About Chestnut Hill 
• Chestnut Hill sits 8th in the 12-team CACC at 4-6. The Griffins are 4-8-1 overall. A win will clinch them a spot in the CACC Tournament, while a loss and Goldey-Beacom win over Wilmington, would knock them out entirely. 
• The program is coming off a 4-3 away win against in-conference foe Post last Saturday. Midfielder Rebecca Dalton became the fourth-ever Griffin to score four goals in a match and the first to do so since 2009.
• The Griffins have won back-to-back contests for the first time in two years.
• The Griffins have struggled at home this season, producing only one win in Lafayette Hill, its fewest in a non-COVID shortened season since 2019.
• Dalton is fifth in the conference with eight goals. 
• Abby Galazka and Lauren Sullivan are tied for seventh in the CACC with five assists each. 
• Elizabeth Deal is second in the nation with five yellow cards. 
• A physical team, the Griffins lead the nation with 29 yellow cards and four red cards. 
• Chestnut Hill goalies have combined for a 0.650 save percentage against average, a bottom-10 mark in Division II.
• The Griffins' 15.9 shots per match is third-highest in the conference.
