Georgian Court Begins Week vs. Goldey-Beacom

LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 15, 2024) - Georgian Court Softball starts a long four doubleheader homestand this week.

How to Watch
• Tuesday's doubleheaders will be streamed live via a free-to-view broadcast on the Georgian Court portal of the CACC Digital Network, powered by HUDL. Live stats are also available on the Lions Softball schedule page. 

Previously vs. Goldey-Beacom
• Georgian Court has historically done very well vs. the Lightning holding an all-time 30-6 lead over GBC.
• Since 2009, GCU is 27-2.
• One of those two losses though came last year as Goldey-Beacom picked up a walk-off win on a bases loaded walk, 6-5.That came in the 10th inning after GCU took the lead in the top of the inning.
• The Lions didn't take too kindly to the loss. They won game two 16-1 in five innings. Jayda Jones drove in four runs with a home run and a double. 
• All nine Lion starters got a hit in the game two win. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court finished a 10-game week with a split of second place Bridgeport.
• After getting blanked in game one, 2-0 and striking out 14 times, the Lions came back twice on the Purple Knights to salvage a split.
• GCU used a four-run third inning to take a 4-3 lead. After falling behind 6-5, a two-run single in the sixth from Cheyenne Jackson gave the Lions the lead back.
Julia Lapp finished the game and earned the win, 7-6. 

CACC Leaders
• Kaitlyn Stufft is second in the CACC hitting .495. She also has a CACC best 14 home runs and 1.000 slugging percentage which is fourth in the country. 
• Cheyenne Jackson is third in the CACC with 26 stolen bases and leads the league with 0.72 walks per game. 
• Adriana Mungo's is the CACC leader with 16 doubles. Her 0.47 doubles per game are seventh in Division II.
Jadalynn Rodriguez's three triples are fourth in the conference.   
• Georgian Court is third in the CACC in team scoring at 5.29 runs per game.
• They are leading the league in team slugging percentage at .467, second in team on-base at .383 and third in batting average at .302. 
• Their 21 home runs are also the most in the CACC. 
• Georgian Court has drawn 107 walks this season, most in the CACC. Their 11 sacrifice flies also lead the CACC. 

Who's Hot
• For the third time this season, Kaitlyn Stufft is the CACC Player of the Week. She hit .560 last week with six home runs and 14 runs batted in. 
• Adriana Mungo has hits in 16 of her last 18 games. In 10 of those games, she has multiple hits. 
Julia Lapp had a nice weekend allowing just four runs in 13.1 innings pitched. 
• Isabella Molina is 7 for her last 12 at the plate with runs in three of her last four games. 
Gabriella Aleman has hits in four of her last five games and is batting .375 over that span with five RBI.
Cheyenne Jackson is riding a five game hitting streak with five runs scored and five RBI. 
• The longest hitting streak on the team belongs to Lia DeMaio. She's hit safely in seven straight games. 

Individual Milestones
• Jadalynn Rodriguez needs seven runs for 100. 
Kaitlyn Stufft is within striking distance of the Lions all-time RBI record. She's now seven behind and needs eight for the all-time mark. She's also seven behind the all-time mark in home runs and needs eight for sole possession of the record. 
• Adriana Mungo is now tied for Lions career record with 60 doubles. She needs just one more to set the high-water mark. She also needs six bases to reach 350 career total bases, something just four other Lions have ever done. 
Cheyenne Jackson is four stolen bases away from becoming the seventh Lion to ever swipe 30 bases in a season. 

Playoff Picture
• The regular season wraps up in less than two weeks. At 8-6, Georgian Court is currently in sixth place.
• The top eight teams all make the postseason, but it's the top four that have a big advantage.
• Quarterfinal round matchups are on campus sites and require the lower-seeded team to sweep a doubleheader. Higher seeded teams need to just win one of two games to advance.
• Goldey-Beacom is the only team currently ahead of the Lions left on their schedule.
• Following the Lightning, GCU still has games with Holy Family, Jefferson and Chestnut Hill. Only one of those three is currently in a postseason position. 

About the Opponents
Goldey-Beacom Lightning
• Goldey-Beacom is currently 9-5 in the CACC and 19-23 overall. 
• They're coming off a sweep at the hands of Bridgeport, 6-0 and 11-3 in five innings.
• The Lightning have one of the best strikeout pitchers in the nation in Abigail O'Shields. She's fanned 173 batters this season and is 13-7 with a 2.58 ERA.
• As a team, GBC has a 4.49 ERA. Morgan McLane and Alesia Doctor have gotten the most work behind O'Shields. They've allowed a combined 88 earned runs in 99 innings.
• Hannah Davis leads the offense with a .386 batting average, 51 hits and 32 runs scored.
• Bryn Bohmann is the biggest power threat with seven home runs and a conference leading 45 RBI. 
• The Lightning have been solid with the glove playing to a .956 team fielding percentage that's third best in the league.
