Final Week of the Softball Season Starts Tomorrow at Home

LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 22, 2024) - Georgian Court Softball concludes the regular season this week with two doubleheaders.

Holy Family Tigers (12-29, 9-11 CACC)

How to Watch
• Tuesday's doubleheader will be streamed live via a free-to-view broadcast on the Georgian Court portal of the CACC Digital Network, powered by HUDL. Live stats are also available on the Lions Softball schedule page. 
• Wednesday at Holy Family will feature just live stats. 

Previously vs. Jefferson
• All-time vs. Jefferson, Georgian Court has won 27-of-38 games.
• They've won 11 straight dating back to 2017. 
• At home, GCU is 14-4 and haven't lost at home since 2016.
• Last year, GCU got game one 9-0 and ended early after six.
• Game two was much closer as Jefferson took a 4-3 lead after five innings.
Jayda Jones homered in the sixth to give the Lions the lead back and for good with a 7-5 win. 

Previously vs. Holy Family
• Georgian Court had won 12 straight against Holy Family before the CACC quarterfinals last year, when HFU won 10-0 in game one.
• They're 30-10 lifetime against the Tigers and 10-6 when playing on the road.
• As the higher seed, GCU needed to win one while Holy Family needed to to advance. HFU got the first 10-0 but GCU took game two 3-2 to advance in the tournament.
• The Lions led 3-0 in game two thanks to a pair of unearned runs and a Kaitlyn Stufft home run.
• Holy Family got two back in the sixth, but a lineout ended the inning and kept GCU in front for good. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court finished up the nonconference portion of their schedule against Adelphi.
• The Lions took it on the chin in game one after 10-run sixth inning opened up a 14-1 Panther lead.
Janelle Blaszka carried a no-hitter through five innings. The Panthers finally cracked through with two in the sixth and two in the seventh for a 4-1 win.

CACC Leaders
• Kaitlyn Stufft is second in the CACC hitting .484. She also has a CACC best 15 home runs and .945 slugging percentage which is seventh in the country. 
• Cheyenne Jackson is third in the CACC with 27 stolen bases and leads the league with 0.65 walks per game. 
• Adriana Mungo's is the CACC leader with 17 doubles. 
Julia Lapp is second in the CACC allowing just 1.11 walks per seven innings. 
• Georgian Court is third in the CACC in team scoring at 5.18 runs per game.
• They are leading the league in team slugging percentage at .447, third in team on-base at .375 and fourth in batting average at .294. 
• Their 24 home runs are also the most in the CACC. 
• Georgian Court has drawn 130 walks this season, most in the CACC.
• With 20 double plays, Georgian Court is second in the CACC and 18th in Division II.

Kaitlyn Stufft is hitting .500 during her current five-game hitting streak.
Adriana Mungo has a hit in four straight.
Isabella Molina had two doubles in game one against Adelphi. 
Janelle Blaszka has allowed just six earned runs in her last 22 innings for a 1.90 ERA. 

Individual Milestones
• Jadalynn Rodriguez needs five runs for 100. 
• Kaitlyn Stufft is within striking distance of the Lions all-time RBI record. She's now four behind and needs five for the all-time mark. She's also six behind the all-time mark in home runs and needs seven for sole possession of the record. 
Adriana Mungo needs one more RBI to reach 150. She'd be the fifth Lion to ever do that. 
• Cheyenne Jackson is three stolen bases away from becoming the seventh Lion to ever swipe 30 bases in a season. 
• Nineteen more innings will get Janelle Blaszka to 300. 
Lia DeMaio needs six at bats to get to 100. 

Playoff Picture
• The regular season wraps up this weeks. At 11-7, Georgian Court is currently in fifth place.
• The top eight teams all make the postseason, but it's the top four that have a big advantage.
• Quarterfinal round matchups are on campus sites and require the lower-seeded team to sweep a doubleheader. Higher seeded teams need to just win one of two games to advance.
• Of the two CACC doubleheaders left, both opponents are below the Lions in the standings. Holy Family is fighting for a playoff spot, holding on to the number eight position. 
• Georgian Court is currently fifth trailing Wilmington, Bridgeport, Goldey-Beacom and Bloomfield. 
• Wilmington and Bridgeport are locked into the No. 1 and 2 seeds. Goldey-Beacom, Georgian Court, Bloomfield and Felician are all battling for the final two top-four seeds. 

About the Opponents
Jefferson Rams
• Jefferson is struggling mightily having lost 12 straight games. They're now 10-19 on the season and 4-14 in the CACC.
• Jefferson is hitting just .248 as a team and have not hit a home run all season.
• Their team slugging percentage of .306 ranks 253rd of 268 teams in Division II. Their team on-base percentage of .295 ranks 262nd in the nation. 
• Rozalee Negron leads the team with a .330 average and 30 hits. Bridget Shields has driven in 14 runs.
• The Rams fielding percentage of .930 is near the bottom of the CACC. They've made 54 errors in 29 games.
• Jefferson has one excellent pitcher in Gianna DeLorenzo. She has a 1.96 ERA  in 96.1 innings.

Holy Family Tigers
• Holy Family is still battling for a spot in the CACC Tournament at 9-11 in the league.
• Sam Ciasullo has hit eight home runs and is hitting .284.
• Alexis Letizia has a team-best 31 RBI hitting .369..
• HFU doesn't run much and have stole just 29 bases this season.
• Kinsley Hall has pitched well with a 6-7 record and 2.57 ERA in 103.2 innings. She's struck out 116 batters.
• Holy Family is third in the CACC with a 2.03 strikeout to walk ratio.
