KUTZTOWN, Pa. (Sept. 13, 2024) - Georgian Court Cross Country was once again in action Friday evening. The Lions took part in the annual Kutztown Division II Challenge.
For the Lion men, they finished in 10th place among 12 teams totaling 260 points. The Lion women did not finish enough to count for team scoring.
Nolan Kus led Georgian Court with a 24th place finish running 27:30.41 for the 8K race. That time puts him ninth all-time at GCU in the 8K distance in his first race with the Lions. Behind Kus was
Ryan Pettrow who ran 28:41.60 for 47th place.
Joe Jamolawicz was also in the top-100 finishing in 76th place with a time of 29:58.38.
Matthew Schaub and
Colin Broadbelt each ran their first collegiate 8K race. Schaub ran 33:02.86 for 106th place and Broadbelt was 111th in 33:49.54.
Shippensburg won the team championship with a perfect score of 15. The Raiders had each of the top-six finishers in the field.
On the women's side,
Amirah Beasley led the squad running the 6K in 27:56.74. She finished 85th overall.
Brenna Sullivan was in 113th place with her time of 30:08.12.
Madalin Jones and
Samantha Lonseth wrapped up the field for GCU. Jones ran 31:46.85 for 121st place and Lonseth was 129th in 35:07.14.
Shippensburg was also the team champs on the women's side in a much more tightly contested battle. They scored 36 points, just two better than second place Kutztown.
Georgian Court has one more race in the month of September. They'll be in Delaware next Friday, Sept. 20 for the Delaware Invitational, hosted by the University of Delaware.Â
