LOGAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Oct. 18, 2025) - Georgian Court Cross Country was back in action Saturday afternoon at DREAM Park in Logan Township, NJ for the annual Rowan Border Battle. The Lions competed in the Open Race on both sides in what was their final tune-up before next week's CACC Championship meet.
The men had a 10th place finish among 20 teams in the 8K race.
Ryan Pettrow led GCU running 27:10.8, which is a season-best for him at that distance. He finished in 18th place overall among 215 competitors.
Matthew Schaub set a new personal-best running 28:37.9. He was second for the Lions in 57th place.
Joe Jamolawicz and
Zachary Spoonire finished inside the top-100. Jamolawicz ran 29:19.4 for 90th place and Spoonire was 98th in 29:52.5.Â
Rounding out the scoring for the Lions was
Luke McCormick. He ran 30:20 for 114th place.
Colin Broadbelt and
Stephen Lane finished a few spots apart. Broadbelt was 141st in 31:26.6 and Lane 145th in 31:37.9.Â
The open race was won by the Penn State Club Cross Country Team with 31 points. Rowan alumni Joshua Cason won the race in 25:41.2.
For the women, they ran a 6K and finished in 11th place. Five of the six Lions who ran finished in a season-best time.
That starts with
Sophia Mauro. She placed 18th running 25:12.4.
Gwendolyn Morris was in 48th place crossing the line in 26:11.6.
Nora Sprunger had nearly a two-minute PR running 28:06.3 for 87th place. All three of those were also personal-best time in the 6K.
Brenna Sullivan set a new season-best running 30:38.1 for 117th place.
Samantha Lonseth was a couple of seconds away from a personal-best, running 31:15.5 for 122nd place. That's still a season-best time.
Kerry Ann Hohenshilt completed the field for GCU finishing in 129th place in 32:33.5.
Like in the men's race, the Penn State Club Cross Country Team won the team title. They scored 25 points. Nevaya Carr of Penn State Club XC led a field of 154 running 22:53.4 for the individual win.
Up next for the Lions is the CACC Championship meet. That takes place next Sunday, Oct. 26 at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.Â
