PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Oct. 26, 2025) - Sunday morning Georgian Court Cross Country took to the course for the annual CACC Championship meet. Held at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, both squads finished in the top-5 among 10-team fields. The women started the morning with a fifth place finish while the men went next and placed fourth.
Georgian Court put two runners into the top-15 individually, meaning they earned All-CACC honors.
Ryan Pettrow for the men finished eighth and
Sophia Mauro for the women placed ninth to receive the All-Conference recognition.
Mauro led GCU with her time of 21:22.27 for ninth place overall in the 5K race. She was the fourth freshman to finish in the field of 63. Also placing in the top-20 was
Gwendolyn Morris. She was 19th running 22:31.04, a season-best time at the 5K distance.Â
Behind Morris was
Nora Sprunger in 34th place and
Brenna Sullivan in 40th. Sprunger ran 24:25.24 and Sullivan 25:30.25. Sullivan improved on her time at this race from last year by nearly 30 seconds.Â
Kerry Ann Hohenshilt finished up the scoring for GCU. She was 47th running 26:49.16.
Samantha Lonseth ran 27:38.57 for sixth place. Hohenshilt also saw a big improvement on her time from last season's conference meet.
Georgian Court totaled 149 points to place fifth. Jeffeson was the team champions. They placed all seven runners in the top-7, for a perfect score of 15. It's the first perfect score in CACC Championship history on the women's side. It's only happened once before with the Wilmington men pulling off the feat in 2013.
The Lion men had a fourth place finish in the 8K led by Pettrow's 27:49.24, which was good for eighth place. It was a close race at the top and just nine seconds separated fifth place and ninth place. At this race last year, Pettrow finished in 31st place and this year cut down more than two minutes over the same course.
Just missing the top-15 and All-CACC nod was
Zachary Spoonire. He finished 17th running 29:10.19.
Joe Jamolawicz and
Matthew Schaub finished back-to-back in 27th and 28th place. Jamolawicz ran 30:12.88 while Schaub improved his time from last year and finished in 30:15.66.
Luke McCormick completed the scoring for GCU running 31:46.34. That too is an improvement from last year.
Colin Broadbelt and
Stephen Lane finished up the field for the Lions. Broadbelt took 43rd place in 32:11.49 and Lane was 47th in 32:52.32.Â
The Lions finished with 119 points for fourth place. It was a very close race for the team title. Jefferson came out on top scoring 49 points, besting Wilmington by just two points as the Wildcats scored 51. The Wildcat's Julian Jones claimed the individual championship. He ran 26:14.84.Â
Following the race, Georgian Court's
Brenna Sullivan was awarded the CACC Top-17 award for the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the Championship site. Sullivan is a 4.0 dual major in interdisciplinary studies and education. This is Sullivan's second such award. She was the ECC Elite-20 award winner at last year's ECC Indoor Track and Field Championships.Â
