LANGHORNE, Pa. (Oct. 4, 2025) - Georgian Court Cross Country used the two week break to get some much needed rest and it certainly paid off. The Lion men won the meet at the Cairn Highlander Invitational. GCU totaled 69 points, besting the second-place team by 28 points.
Two Lions finished in the top-10 while two more were in the top-20 in the 8K race.
Ryan Pettrow led GCU running 28:31.1 to finish in fourth place. Two spots behind him was
Zachary Spoonire in sixth place.
Running 30:41.3 was Joe Jamoawicz. He finished 13th overall. Not far behind Jamolawicz was
Matthew Schaub running 31:17.5 for 16th place. The final scorer for the Lions was
Luke McCormick in 34th plcae. He ran 32:38.4.
Colin Broadbelt ran 33:48.8 for 41st place.
Running in his first race for the Lions, freshman
Stephen Lane ran 35:24.5 to finish in 59th place.Â
The women also had a top-10 finish, placing in sixth place. Freshman
Sophia Mauro led GCU with an individual top-10 finish. She ran 27:03.3 for eighth place. Finishing just outside the top-20 was
Gwendolyn Morris. She ran 28:23.4.
GCU's third finisher was
Nora Sprunger. She was 32nd overall running the 6K course in 30:36.5. Kerry Ann-Hohenshilt placed 44th in 32:16.5 and
Samantha Lonseth completed the scoring for the Lions running 34:22.9 and placed 55th.
Brenna Sullivan finished 63rd in 36:28.8 to round out Georgian Court finishers.
Lancaster Bible won the women's race finishing with 62 points. Aubrey Donahue of Immaculata was the women's individual champion running 24:26.5. Chase Ely was the individual men's champion finishing the 8K race in 27:32.4.
Georgian Court will go back to Pennsylvania next week at a familiar course. They race again at West Chester for the Golden Ram Invitational Saturday, Oct. 11.
