INDIANAPOLIS (November 25, 2025) - The first College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team's released for the 2025-26 athletic year have come out. The CSC announced the award winners for men's and women's soccer. This year Georgian Court Soccer totaled 11 on the Academic All-District Team with Men's Soccer earning six and women's Soccer five.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The CSC requires both academic and athletic standards to maintain to be eligible for the Academic All-District Team. Student-athletes must have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.50 and be of sophomore or high academic standing. Nominees must have also competed in 90% of an institutions games or started at least 66% of games.
The Lion women who were recognized are Haley Funkhouser,
Taylor Horvath,
Gabby Parkinson,
Lillian Piper and
Chiamaka Wokocha. The men are represented by
Alessandro Cavallini,
Oscar Jannesson,
Mikey Mallon,
Anthony Ryan,
Bryan Sanchez, and
Tim Wilk.
Funkhouser is a redshirt sophomore on the field and a junior in the classroom. She has a 3.82 GPA while studying Business Administration. She played and started in 16 of the Lions 17 games last season in the midfield and was among the team's leaders with 1,255 minutes played.
Horvath had a career year for the Lions on defense. The junior played in all 17 games and finished fourth on the team with 1,251 minutes played. She also picked up her first career point with an assist at Post. In the classroom, Horvath carries a 3.52 GPA in Medical Imaging Sciences.
Parkinson came back for her fifth year as a Biology student with a 3.75 GPA. She played in all 17 games on the field, making 16 starts and played in her 50th career game this season. The midfield saw the most playing time of her career, appearing on the field for 1,081 minutes.
Another defender, Piper was one of just two Lions to start all 17 games. The senior is a Nursing student with a 3.82 GPA. Piper was second on the team playing 1,384 minutes. She also finished the year with four points, scoring a goal with two assists. Her goal in the season opener against Pace was the first of her career.
Wokocha is a junior Biology student-athlete with a 3.60 GPA. She too surpassed 50 career games played this season, appearing in all 17 for the Lions. She scored the game-winning goal for Georgian Court in a 1-0 win against Staten Island and finished the year with a goal and an assist.
Cavallini is a student in the classroom and junior on the field. He's studying Business Administration with a 3.99 GPA. He was one of just two Lions to appear in all 17 games this season and scored two goals with one assist in a career-best 1,279 minutes.
Jannesson dealt with injuries but still played in 14 games and made 12 starts for the Lions on defense. In the last four years, no one has played in more games than Jannesson and he just finished his fourth consecutive season with more than 1,000 minutes played. The senior has a 3.84 GPA while studying Finance.
Mallon is another senior Finance major with a 3.69 GPA. He made the All-CACC First Team this season as a midfielder, despite playing in just 13 games with 12 starts. He set a career-high this season scoring five goals and had his first collegiate brace with two in a win against Dominican. He added an assist for his second consecutive 11-point season.
Junior
Anthony Ryan took a huge step forward on the field. After playing just 10 minutes in two years, Ryan appeared in 14 games, started 12 and played 954 minutes on defense. He scored his first career goal against Dominican and picked up an assist at Daemen. In the classroom, Ryan has a 3.67 GPA while studying Business Administration.
Sanchez is another junior who greatly increased his time on the field in 2025. He played in 16 games, getting eight starts as a midfield. In the classroom, Sanchez is a 3.97 student majoring in Finance.
Wilk was the only Lion to start all 17 games last season and led the team playing in a career-high 1,327 minutes. He picked up the first two points and assists of his career as well. The junior is an Exercise Science major with a 3.94 GPA.
All eleven were selected to advance to appear on the national ballot for the CSC Academic All-America Team.
