Inaugural Georgian Court Baseball Season Starts This Weekend

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Feb. 27, 2025) - It's an historic week for Georgian Court University as the very first Baseball games will be played this weekend.

• Friday's doubleheader is available on a free-to-view broadcast of the Erskine portal of the Conference Carolinas Digital Network. There will be no broadcast Saturday.

Head Coach Arlan Freeman
• Coach Freeman is in his 15th season of collegiate coaching and seventh as a head coach. He Georgian Court is the second program he has started from the ground up, doing the same at St. Elizabeth University in Morristown, NJ.
• That came after his first head coaching stint at New Paltz, where he was head coach for two season, earning the SUNYAC Coach of the Year award
• He has spent time as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Universities, Barry, Lynn and Felician and Division III Stevens Institue of Technology. 
• Freeman has also worked professionally within the Cape Cod League. 

Baseball at Georgian Court
• With the start of the Baseball season, Georgian Court now sponsors 16 sports, seven men's and nine women's.
Men's Sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, I/O Track and Field
Women's Sports: Acrobatics and Tumbling, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, I/O Track and Field, Volleyball

Inaugural Schedule
• The first eight games Georgian Court will play this year will all be on the road, against six different teams.
• Following their series against Erskine, GCU will play single games with Staten Island, West Virginia Wesleyan, New Haven, Lynn and Bentley.
• The Lions first ever home game will coincide with their first ever conference game. They host Post Saturday, March 15 at the Jackson Justice Complex.
• The CACC is split into two divisions, North and South, much like Basketball and Volleyball. However unlike Basketball and Volleyball, the Lions will compete in the CACC North Division this season.
• Georgian Court has 50 games on their schedule, 20 at home and 30 on the road. Of the 50, 36 are conference games.

About the Opponent
Erskine Fleet

• Erskine has already opened their season, playing 15 games thus far in 2025.
• They're 7-8 and 3-3 in the Conference Carolinas.
• The Fleet have already spent a lot of time at home, playing eight games where they're 5-3.
• Runs haven't been hard to come by for the Fleet, but preventing them has. Erskine has a .294 batting average and average more than seven runs per game.
• The Fleet are a small ball team and lead the NCAA with 20 sacrifice bunts. Of their 144 hits this season, just 30 have gone for extra-bases.
• On the mound, Erskine has a team ERA of 6.91. They've hit 44 batters, second-most in the country. 
• Erskine is also susceptible to the stolen base, having allowed 24-27 on the year.
• The Fleet are near the bottom of Division II in fielding percentage at .943, having made 29 errors.
• Joe Alegre and Roman Edwards have been the top two starters for Erskine and each have an ERA below 5.00. Alegre has struck out 18, but also surrendered 10 extra-base hits among 22 hits allowed.
• Pierce Radke leads the offense with a .885 OPS. He's collected 19 hits in 52 at bats while driving in nine.
• Jorge Pascual has a team-best 15 runs batted in and is slugging .535.
