Baseball Plays Doubleheader at Goldey-Beacom

LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 17, 2025) - Georgian Court Baseball is back on the field for a CACC midweek doubleheader. 

Similar to last weekend, there has been another location change. The freshly laid sod at the Jackson Justice Complex, home of Georgian Court Baseball, is still not quite ready to be played on yet, so Tuesday's doubleheader is being moved to Hockessin, DE, home of Goldey-Beacom College.

How to Watch
• Tuesday's games are available via a free-to-view stream provided by Goldey-Beacom. Live Stats are also available on the Lions schedule page.

CACC Action
• Georgian Court plays in the CACC North Division, as opposed to the South like they do in Basketball and Volleyball.
• The CACC schedules inter-division games as weekend doubleheaders, Saturday and Sunday, with each team playing a home and away doubleheader.
• Out of division doubleheaders, like Tuesday vs. Goldey-Beacom, are a single doubleheader played during the week. 

Last Time Out
• The Lions got their first taste of CACC play over the weekend.
• The league did them no favors putting them up against the defending CACC Tournament Champions, Post, right from the jump.
• Post swept both doubleheaders from the Lions.
• GCU held their own for the most part and had a chance to win, especially game two Saturday at home.
• Georgian Court scored 16 runs in the four games. Twice they held Post to just five runs, but also allowed 10+ in two games. 

Who's Hot?
• Israel Garcia played in three of the four games at Post and hit in all three going 6-9 with a pair of home runs and four RBI.
• Alex Elliott had a hit in each of the final three games vs. Post. He doubled and drove in three runs. 
Frank Marra was 4-12 against the Eagles.
Ryan Bilello threw five innings and struck out two allowing three runs, two earned in game one Sunday. 
Kyle Kolans and Joe Voli threw perfect innings out of the bullpen Sunday. 

CACC Leaders
Israel Garcia is second slugging .767 and seventh with a .433 average. 
• Carter Rieben is third in hit by pitches with seven.
Oliver Santana's two triples are tied for the CACC lead.

About the Opponent
Goldey-Beacom Lightning

• Two CACC opponents, two 2024 NCAA regional qualifiers. Goldey-Beacom was 34-21 last season, winning a game at the NCAA Regional Championships.
• This season, the Lightning are off to a 10-6 start. These will be the first CACC games for the Lightning.
• GBC has won three straight and are 4-2 playing at home.
• Goldey-Beacom has a 5.28 team-ERA with 137 strikeouts in 133 innings.
• Last Wednesday they started Connor Blence who threw three innings and allowed a run. Kevin Dillon got the win also throwing three innings of one-hit ball with four strikeouts.
• The offense is hitting .263, averaging a shade under six runs per game.
• Adam McEvoy is hitting .333 with four doubles and three home runs, but just six RBI to show for the power.
• Anthony Charles leads a team that likes to run. The Lightning are second in the CACC with 51 stolen bases. Charles is 12-13 and also leads the team with 14 RBI.
• GBC is in the top-five in the CACC in fielding percentage at .959 for the season.

Head Coach Arlan Freeman
• Coach Freeman is in his 15th season of collegiate coaching and seventh as a head coach. He Georgian Court is the second program he has started from the ground up, doing the same at St. Elizabeth University in Morristown, NJ.
• That came after his first head coaching stint at New Paltz, where he was head coach for two season, earning the SUNYAC Coach of the Year award
• He has spent time as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Universities, Barry, Lynn and Felician and Division III Stevens Institue of Technology. 
• Freeman has also worked professionally within the Cape Cod League. 

Baseball at Georgian Court
• With the start of the Baseball season, Georgian Court now sponsors 16 sports, seven men's and nine women's.

Women's Sports: Acrobatics and Tumbling, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, I/O Track and Field, Volleyball

Inaugural Schedule
• The first eight games Georgian Court will play this year will all be on the road, against six different teams.
• Following their series against Erskine, GCU will play single games with Staten Island, West Virginia Wesleyan, New Haven, Lynn and Bentley.
• The Lions first ever home game will coincide with their first ever conference game. They host Post Saturday, March 15 at the Jackson Justice Complex.
• The CACC is split into two divisions, North and South, much like Basketball and Volleyball. However unlike Basketball and Volleyball, the Lions will compete in the CACC North Division this season.
• Georgian Court has 50 games on their schedule, 18 at home and 32 on the road. Of the 50, 36 are conference games.
