Softball in Action All Three Days This Weekend

LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 20, 2025) - Georgian Court Softball, fresh off of a CACC sweep, is right back in action with a busy weekend ahead.

Previously vs. This Weekends Opponents
Adelphi Panthers

• Georgian Court and Adelphi have an extended nonconference history.
• They've met 26 times with Adelphi winning 16.
• That includes a current five-game Panther winning streak dating back to 2022.
• GCU hasn't scored more than three runs in any of the losses during the five-game losing streak.
• Last year in Lakewood, Adelphi ran away in game one with a 14-1 win. They then also allowed just one run in game two, a 4-1 victory. 

Bridgeport Purple Knights
• Bridgeport has found success since joining the CACC before the 2023 season, but the Lions have played them tough.
• GCU has split both CACC series with Bridgeport these last two seasons and own a 7-4 all-time series record.
• Last year in Bridgeport, the Purple Knights took game one 2-0.
• The Lions rallied in game two and Cheyenne Jackson's two RBI single in the sixth inning gave GCU a 7-6 win. 
• Bridgeport left the tying run at third base in both the sixth and seventh innings as Julia Lapp worked into and out of trouble to earn the win. 

Assumption Greyhounds
• Georgian Court and Assumption have met six times but never played a true doubleheader.
• In fact all six games have been neutral site games played in the state of Florida.
• In their six games, each team has three wins.
• Georgian Court has never scored more than five runs in any of the six games.
• They last met in 2022, an 8-5 Assumption win. Noone on the current roster has ever played against Assumption. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court started out conference play with a doubleheader sweep of Holy Family.
• The Lions won two one-run games, 6-5 and 4-3.
Janelle Blaszka and Julia Lapp worked around a ton of base runners. Holy Family left 11 on base in game one, and 9 in game two. 
Brooklyn Ragland broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning of game two which proved to be the game-winning RBI. 
Ella Moore hit her first GCU home run in game one. 

Individual Milestones
• One run and two RBI will bring Charlee Mae Sinderud to 20.
Gabriella Aleman needs eight hits to reach 50.
Lia DeMaio is two at bats away from 150.
• Three more appearances will get Julia Lapp to 30 and she needs 13 strikeouts for 50.
Isabella Molina needs to more games played to get to 40. 
Cheyenne Jackson needs seven hits to reach 50 and one RBI for 25.
Janelle Blaszka will move to seventh in all-time NCAA-era starts with three more. She needs two more complete games to move to seventh as well. She currently stands at 162 strikeouts which is tied for 10th. Ninth place has 163, eighth 174 and seventh 179. 

CACC Leaders
• Janelle Blaszka is sixth in the CACC in strikeouts per seven innings.
• Kaylin Curro sits fourth in the league in triples. She's also leading the CACC in triples per game and runs per game. 
• Cheyenne Jackson has moved to lead the league in slugging percentage. 
• Behind the dish, Mikayla LaPlaca's five caught stealings are one behind the league leader. 
• Georgian Court is third scoring 4.29 runs per game.
• The Lions offense is humming along sitting fourth in slugging percentage and fourth in stolen bases per game. 

Who's Hot?
• Kaylin Curro recently lost an eight-game hitting streak in game two against Holy Family. 
• Cheyenne Jackson is on a power tear with four doubles, two home runs and a triple in her last six games. 
• Gabrielle Aleman has a hit in seven of her last eight games. 
• Ella Moore doubled twice in game two at St. Thomas Aquinas and homered against Holy Family.
Julia Lapp had a nice start against Holy Family throwing seven innings for just the second time this season.
Janelle Blaszka has 13 strikeouts in her last three starts. 

About the Opponents
Adelphi Panthers

• Perennial regional power Adelphi is off to a bit of a slow start in 2025.
• The Panthers are 6-10 this year, however they've won their last four games.
• Adelphi is also 4-0 when playing at home this season.
• The team is hitting just .238 and not for much power with 19 extra-base hits in 16 games.
• The Panthers are scoring just 3.25 runs per game. 
• Courtney Murphy leads the team hitting .359. All 14 of her hits have been singles.
• Julianna Sanzone has driven in eight runs.
• The pitching has kept them in games with a 4.13 staff ERA.
• Jenna Plue is the staff ace having throwing 46.1 innings with a 3.47 ERA. 

Bridgeport Purple Knights
• Bridgeport is off to a nice start at 13-7 this season.
• They've already played a pair of CACC doubleheaders, sweeping Bloomfield and splitting with Wilmington.
• The team is hitting .284, led by Madison D'Amato and Angela Oros each batting over .400.
• Oros has clubbed three home runs on the season, but is the only Knight to long in 2025.
• Bridgeport does a fair bit of running on the bases with 25 stolen bases in 20 games. They've only been caught three times.
• Mya Jones is the team's biggest RBI producer with 24.
• Kaite Burawski is back and leading a staff with a 2.46 team ERA. Burawski has 87 strikeouts in 67.2 innings with a 1.97 ERA.
• Bridgeport is also one of the best defensive teams in the country with a .980 fielding percentage.

Assumption Greyhounds
• Assumption may be the best one-win team in the country. They're off to a dreadful 1-15 start but could easily have many more wins on the season.
• They're 1-6 in one-run games and 0-3 when games go into extra innings. Of their 16 games, 11 have been decided by three runs or fewer. 
• They don't hit for much power with just 11 doubles, two triples and two home runs on the season, but can run with 20 stolen bases.
• Molly Green is hitting .435. She's put the ball in play in 38 of her 40 at bats on the year.
• The Greyhounds staff has a team ERA above six, but their top two starters are both around 4.50. 
• Assumption struggles putting runners on, evidenced by their 46-71 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
• The Greyhounds are also yet to play a game at home this season. They're 0-9 in true road games.
