Two Throwers Earn CACC Weekly Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 26, 2025) - Georgian Court Track and Field kicked off their 2025 outdoor season last week at the Stockton Invitational. It was a great week for the Lions, especially throwers Mark Linton and Guius Dabney who earned CACC awards for their performances.

Linton was named the conference's Field Athlete of the Week while Dabney was the Field Rookie of the Week. These are the first weekly awards by either the CACC (outdoors) or the ECC (indoors) for both Linton and Dabney.

In his first outdoor meet, Dabney entered the Lions all-time top-10 in three events. He finished the day winning the discus throwing 155-9 on his final throw of the day, 18 total. That mark puts him sixth in Lions history. Linton also was third in the shot put throwing 49-5.75 which is eighth at GCU and fourth in the hammer throw at 148-11 with is sixth. All three were CACC qualifying marks and he's currently leading the league in the discus while in the top-three in both the shot put and hammer throw.

Dabney finished just outside the top-10 in the hammer throw. His toss of 11-6 was good for 11th overall. Dabney was also 16th in the shot put with a personal-best throw 41-1.5. Both of his throws hit the CACC qualifying standard. He's currently the top ranked freshman in the league in both events.

Georgian Court Track and Field are headed right back to Stockton this week. They're competing Friday-Saturday, March 28-29 in the Osprey Open.
