Baseball Plays Four With Dominican This Weekend

LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 28, 2025) - Georgian Court Baseball has an in-division home and home series this upcoming weekend with Dominican.

CACC Action
• Georgian Court plays in the CACC North Division, as opposed to the South like they do in Basketball and Volleyball.
• The CACC schedules inter-division games as weekend doubleheaders, Saturday and Sunday, with each team playing a home and away doubleheader.
• Out of division doubleheaders, are a single doubleheader played during the week. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court played Wednesday at Holy Family.
• The Lions were swept by the Tigers, 9-4 and 10-2.
• GCU kept things close early, but the Tigers were able to pull away in the middle and late portions of each game.

• Israel Garcia was named the CACC Rookie of the Week after not being retired against the Bloomfield Bears.

Dominican Chargers

• Dominican is about as .500 as it gets. They're 12-11 overall and 6-6 in CACC play.
• Dominican has gone 3-3 at home and 5-6 on the road.
• The team is hitting .314 led by Jaden Maia's .392 average.
• The Chargers don't hit for much power with 13 home runs. They've scored 169 runs.
• Erick Diaz has hit four home runs and driven in a team-best 21 runs.

Head Coach Arlan Freeman
• Coach Freeman is in his 15th season of collegiate coaching and seventh as a head coach. He Georgian Court is the second program he has started from the ground up, doing the same at St. Elizabeth University in Morristown, NJ.
• That came after his first head coaching stint at New Paltz, where he was head coach for two season, earning the SUNYAC Coach of the Year award
• He has spent time as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Universities, Barry, Lynn and Felician and Division III Stevens Institue of Technology. 
• Freeman has also worked professionally within the Cape Cod League. 

Baseball at Georgian Court
• With the start of the Baseball season, Georgian Court now sponsors 16 sports, seven men's and nine women's.
Men's Sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, I/O Track and Field
Women's Sports: Acrobatics and Tumbling, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, I/O Track and Field, Volleyball

Inaugural Schedule
• The first eight games Georgian Court will play this year will all be on the road, against six different teams.
• Following their series against Erskine, GCU will play single games with Staten Island, West Virginia Wesleyan, New Haven, Lynn and Bentley.
• The Lions first ever home game will coincide with their first ever conference game. They host Post Saturday, March 15 at the Jackson Justice Complex.
• The CACC is split into two divisions, North and South, much like Basketball and Volleyball. However unlike Basketball and Volleyball, the Lions will compete in the CACC North Division this season.
• Georgian Court has 50 games on their schedule, 18 at home and 32 on the road. Of the 50, 36 are conference games.
