Baseball Continues Early Season Road Trip at West Virginia Wesleyan

LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 7, 2025) - Three opponents and three different states. Georgian Court Baseball is on the road again for a single game Saturday afternoon.

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court Baseball made history winning their first ever game, 16-8 at the College of Staten Island.
• The Lions scored 12 runs after the fourth inning to pull away from the Dolphins.
Jaydon Cabezudo got the win allowing a run in two innings of relief.
Israel Garcia drove in four runs and reached base three times.
Frank Marra scored three times with two singles and a double.

Head Coach Arlan Freeman
• Coach Freeman is in his 15th season of collegiate coaching and seventh as a head coach. He Georgian Court is the second program he has started from the ground up, doing the same at St. Elizabeth University in Morristown, NJ.
• That came after his first head coaching stint at New Paltz, where he was head coach for two season, earning the SUNYAC Coach of the Year award
• He has spent time as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Universities, Barry, Lynn and Felician and Division III Stevens Institue of Technology. 
• Freeman has also worked professionally within the Cape Cod League. 

Baseball at Georgian Court
• With the start of the Baseball season, Georgian Court now sponsors 16 sports, seven men's and nine women's.
Men's Sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, I/O Track and Field
Women's Sports: Acrobatics and Tumbling, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, I/O Track and Field, Volleyball

Inaugural Schedule
• The first eight games Georgian Court will play this year will all be on the road, against six different teams.
• Following their series against Erskine, GCU will play single games with Staten Island, West Virginia Wesleyan, New Haven, Lynn and Bentley.
• The Lions first ever home game will coincide with their first ever conference game. They host Post Saturday, March 15 at the Jackson Justice Complex.
• The CACC is split into two divisions, North and South, much like Basketball and Volleyball. However unlike Basketball and Volleyball, the Lions will compete in the CACC North Division this season.
• Georgian Court has 50 games on their schedule, 20 at home and 30 on the road. Of the 50, 36 are conference games.

About the Opponent
West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats

• West Virginia Weslayan, like GCU has one win on the season.
• The Bobcats are off to a 1-6 start.
• WVW has struggled on both sides of the ball. They have a staff ERA of 8.43 allowing 51 runs (44 earned) in 47 innings pitched.
• The offense is hitting .227 with just eight extra base hits in seven games.
• The Bobcats are not a big stolen base threat with just four in six attempts on the year.
• The defense has been serviceable with 11 errors and a .945 fielding percentage.
• Luke Burner has been their biggest offensive weapon hitting .313 with two triples and a double.
