Baseball Plays Final Weekend Series vs. St. Thomas Aquinas

LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 24, 2025) - Georgian Court is nearing the end of their inaugural season. They have three doubleheaders left on the schedule, with two coming this weekend.

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court played at Wilmington, their final CACC South opponent during the week.
• GCU actually played two CACC South Division doubleheaders - at Chestnut Hill and at Wilmington.
• The Lions kept things close, but Wilmington was able to take both ends, 4-10 and 9-2. 

Who's Hot?
• Alex Elliott has a hit in five of his last six games. 
Zinny Kemahu had three hits and a home run at Wilmington. 
Samir Lopez hasn't allowed an earned run in any of his last six outing. 

CACC Leaders
• Israel Garcia is second in the CACC in slugging percentage and third in OPS. 
• Carter Rieben leads the CACC with 26 hit by pitches. That's also third-most in the country. 
• Oliver Santana's three triples are tied for fifth in the league. 
• Alex Elliott is the fourth toughest to strikeout in the league, averaging one every 11.8 at bats.

About the Opponents
St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans

• STAC is nearing the end of their season as well. They sit at 10-27 overall, 5-11 in ECC play.
• The Spartans have not played much at home. They're just 2-5 from Clover Park.
• Clover Park is the home of the New York Boulders of the Frontier League.
• They're hitting .264 as a team this season with a .353 on base percentage and .352 slugging.
• The team has just 80 extra-base hits with 63 doubles, eight triples and nine home runs.
• STAC has a staff ERA of 6.75 with 194 strikeout and 180 walks.
• They don't do much running on the bases with 49 stolen bags this year. 
• The Spartans are a decent fielding team with a 96.1% fielding percentage and 51 errors in more than 300 innings with 48 unearned runs allowed. 

Chestnut Hill Griffins
• While Chestnut Hill is 18-15 and 13-9 in the CACC as of writing this, they do have four more games to play before welcoming Georgian Court.
• They're in a good position in the CACC South Division to clinch a playoff spot.
• The Griffins are pretty middle of the pack in the CACC. in most statistical categories.
• Surprisingly, Chestnut Hill has only used 12 pitchers this season and just seven have started a game.
• Colby Seelig has been outstanding out of the bullpen though. He's seen action in 17 games and nearly leads the team with 42 innings and has a 2.57 ERA with 43 strikeouts.
• Jason Kelly has started eight games and opponents are hitting just .194 against him. 
• The Griffins are eighth hitting .288, but just 11th in the CACC having scoring 196 runs.
• Michael Benedetto III gets the offense going hitting .355 and is 16-17 in the stolen base department.
• The Griffins have swiped 94 bags on the season.

Head Coach Arlan Freeman
• Coach Freeman is in his 15th season of collegiate coaching and seventh as a head coach. He Georgian Court is the second program he has started from the ground up, doing the same at St. Elizabeth University in Morristown, NJ.
• That came after his first head coaching stint at New Paltz, where he was head coach for two season, earning the SUNYAC Coach of the Year award
• He has spent time as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Universities, Barry, Lynn and Felician and Division III Stevens Institue of Technology. 
• Freeman has also worked professionally within the Cape Cod League. 

Baseball at Georgian Court
• With the start of the Baseball season, Georgian Court now sponsors 16 sports, seven men's and nine women's.

Women's Sports: Acrobatics and Tumbling, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, I/O Track and Field, Volleyball

Inaugural Schedule
• The first eight games Georgian Court will play this year will all be on the road, against six different teams.
• Following their series against Erskine, GCU will play single games with Staten Island, West Virginia Wesleyan, New Haven, Lynn and Bentley.
• The Lions first ever home game will coincide with their first ever conference game. They host Post Saturday, March 15 at the Jackson Justice Complex.
• The CACC is split into two divisions, North and South, much like Basketball and Volleyball. However unlike Basketball and Volleyball, the Lions will compete in the CACC North Division this season.
• Georgian Court has 50 games on their schedule, 18 at home and 32 on the road. Of the 50, 36 are conference games.
