Georgian Court Heads to Goldey-Beacom for CACC Tournament Opening Round, Neeing to Win Two

LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 25, 2025) - Georgian Court Softball is back in the CACC Tournament. In the opening round matchup, the No. 6 seeded Lions drew the No. 3 seed Goldey-Beacom Lightning.

Previously vs. Goldey-Beacom
• Georgian Court has had great success against the Lightning, winning 33 of 41 all-time matchups. 
• Earlier this season, GCU split with the Lightning, dominating game one, 9-1, before giving up a late lead in game two in a 4-3 loss.
Lia DeMaio and Kaylin Curro each had three hits in the game one win. 
• The Lions season came to an end last year at Goldey-Beacom in the CACC Tournament. Goldey-Beacom defeated GCU 10-2 in five innings to advance. 
• GCU had two hits in the game, both were Brittany Gable solo home runs. 

Last Time Out
• Just yesterday Georgian Court finished up the regular season.
• They split with Caldwell to finish the year 12-10 in the CACC.
• The Lions dropped game one, 6-1 before coming back in game two for a 12-9, extra-inning win.
• Game two featured 21 runs, 32 hits and eight errors along with 14 unearned runs. 
• After Caldwell scored two in the seventh to tie, GCU got clutch two-out RBI hits from Gabriella Aleman and Ella Moore to score three runs for the win. 

Individual Milestones
• Reagan Winn needs one hit for 30 this season and five at bats for 100.
• Two more RBI will get Ella Moore to 30.
Brooklyn Ragland is two hits away from 30 and two RBI away from 20. 
• One more stolen base will be Cheyenne Jackson's 40th. 
• Kaylin Curro has been a triples machine and needs three to break the single-season record for three-baggers. 
• Charlee Mae Sinderud is four hits away from 50 in her career.

CACC Leaders
• Kaylin Curro and Cheyenne Jackson are in the top-15 in average, slugging, on base and OPS.
• Curro is also tied for the Division II lead with 10 triples. 
• Ella Moore is up to a tie for fifth in doubles and her 28 RBI are one spot outside the top-10. 
• Janelle Blaszka is fifth in strikeouts looking, eighth in wins and 10th in strikeouts looking. 
• Georgian Court's 127 strikeouts are the second fewest in the league. 
• Defensively, GCU is fourth in fielding percentage. 

Who's Hot?
• Kaylin Curro has nine multi-hit games over her last 14 games.
• Brooklyn Ragland has hits in seven of her last eight games and is 14-28 over that span.
• Gabriella Aleman has a hit in nine straight games and has scored six runs in four games this week.
Ella Moore is riding a 10-game hitting streak.
Lia DeMaio has a hit in all four games this week and is 6-12. 
Mikayla LaPlaca has picked up a hit in five straight with an RBI in four of those five games. 

Postseason Picture
• The first round this season will be held on campus sites with 1-4 seeds hosting. Seeds 5-8 need to win two games to advance. The higher seed needs to just win once. 
• Georgian Court earned the number six seed in the CACC Tournament and will play at No. 3 Goldey-Beacom.
• Other CACC Tournament matchups include: No. 1 Bridgeport hosting No. 8 Dominican. No. 2 Wilmington hosts No. 7 Holy Family and No. 4 Jefferson hosts No. 5 Caldwell. 
• The four winners of the quarterfinal round will then travel to Bridgeport, Conn. for a double-elimination tournament May 1-3, hosted by Bridgeport.   

About the Opponent
Goldey-Beacom Lightning

• Goldey-Beacom enters the CACC Tournament red-hot winners of seven straight.
• They finished the year 34-11 and 16-6 in CACC play. 
• They're a great team playing at home where they went 19-4 during the regular season. 
• The Lightning are led by their pitching staff with a 2.63 ERA, second-best in the CACC.
• Caitlyn Burch is the ace at 16-4 with a 1.87 ERA in 130.2 innings pitched having fanned 141. Her wins, ERA, innings and strikeouts are all in the CACC top-three. 
• Georgian Court got her for five runs in 3.2 innings during the regular season though. 
• Morgan McLane has started 13 games and is yet to lose. She's 13-0 on the season with a 2.46 ERA, averaging just a hair under a strikeout per inning. 
• Goldey-Beacom is the top hitting team in the CACC with a .331 average. McKenna Frank and Wynter Radcliffe are both hitting better than .400.
• The Lightning don't hit for a ton of over-the-fence power, but do have 78 doubles and a league-leading 24 triples.
• Bryn Bohmann has driven in 38 runs with a .640 slugging percentage, third-best in the league.
• On the defensive side, GBC is second in the CACC in fielding percentage at .966.
