Lions vs. Bloomfield Postponed Again, Weekend Series With Bridgport Ahead

LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 3, 2025) - It's been an event week for Georgian Court Baseball already and with more games (and potentially inclement weather) on the horizon. Here's where things currently stand as of noon on Thursday, April 3:

Doubleheader with Bloomfield scheduled for April 3 has been rained out. No make up date announced.
Weekend doubleheader at Bridgeport, scheduled for Saturday, April 5, has been moved up to Friday, April 4.
Home doubleheader with Bridgeport still scheduled for Sunday, April 6 at 2 pm.

CACC Action
• Georgian Court plays in the CACC North Division, as opposed to the South like they do in Basketball and Volleyball.
• The CACC schedules inter-division games as weekend doubleheaders, Saturday and Sunday, with each team playing a home and away doubleheader.
• Out of division doubleheaders, are a single doubleheader played during the week. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court played their first nationally ranked opponent in Jefferson.
• The Lions offense kept GCU in the game, but they just didn't have enough in a 19-11 game one loss.
• Game two was a much different story as the Lions were one-hit in a 15-0 shutout. 

Who's Hot?
• Israel Garcia was the only Lion with hits in both games against Jefferson. 
• Alex Elliott has a hit in eight of his last 10 games. 
• Jack Greenspan has a hit in four of his last five. 
• Carter Rieben has multiple hits in two of his last four games with three RBI. 
• Andrew Sloan hasn't allowed an earned run in his last five outings.
• Eduardo Eble-Lacouture threw a scoreless frame against the Rams. 

CACC Leaders
• Israel Garcia is second in the league in both slugging percentage and OPS. 
• Carter Rieben is third in hit by pitches with 13.
• Oliver Santana's two triples are tied for seventh in the league. 
• Larry Rodriguez is in the top-20 in stolen bases per game. 

About the Opponent
Bridgeport Purple Knights

• Bridgeport sits at 7-22 overall this season and 5-11 in the CACC.
• They've dropped four straight to end March getting swept in both weekend doubleheaders with Felician. 
• It's been a struggled for the Knights to score runs. They're hitting just .237 as a team. 
• They do have some power though with 18 home runs and 57 extra-base hits.
• Vin Mallon is hitting .286 and leads the team with six home runs and 20 RBI.
• The Purple Knights are towards the bottom of the CACC defensively with a .939 fielding percentage.
• On the bump, the staff has a 7.02 ERA. They've struck out 155 in 216.2 innings while fanning 241 times themselves.
• Brendan Palmer has been their most consistent starter with a 4.15 ERA in 30.1 innings pitched. He has a sparkling 29:2 strikeout to walk ratio.
• Most of the Purple Knights wins have been close games as evidenced by their five saves in seven wins. Ryan DiLillo has two and a 5.19 ERA in seven games.

Head Coach Arlan Freeman
• Coach Freeman is in his 15th season of collegiate coaching and seventh as a head coach. He Georgian Court is the second program he has started from the ground up, doing the same at St. Elizabeth University in Morristown, NJ.
• That came after his first head coaching stint at New Paltz, where he was head coach for two season, earning the SUNYAC Coach of the Year award
• He has spent time as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Universities, Barry, Lynn and Felician and Division III Stevens Institue of Technology. 
• Freeman has also worked professionally within the Cape Cod League. 

Baseball at Georgian Court
• With the start of the Baseball season, Georgian Court now sponsors 16 sports, seven men's and nine women's.
Men's Sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, I/O Track and Field
Women's Sports: Acrobatics and Tumbling, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, I/O Track and Field, Volleyball

Inaugural Schedule
• The first eight games Georgian Court will play this year will all be on the road, against six different teams.
• Following their series against Erskine, GCU will play single games with Staten Island, West Virginia Wesleyan, New Haven, Lynn and Bentley.
• The Lions first ever home game will coincide with their first ever conference game. They host Post Saturday, March 15 at the Jackson Justice Complex.
• The CACC is split into two divisions, North and South, much like Basketball and Volleyball. However unlike Basketball and Volleyball, the Lions will compete in the CACC North Division this season.
• Georgian Court has 50 games on their schedule, 18 at home and 32 on the road. Of the 50, 36 are conference games.
