Men's Lacrosse Seeks Third CACC Tournament Championship

LAKEWOOD, NJ (May 2, 2025) - It all comes down to this. Saturday Georgian Court Men's Lacrosse plays for the right to call themselves CACC Tournament Champions and claim the CACC's first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Tournament.

Previously vs. Wilmington
• Georgian Court and Wilmington have had some excellent battles in the past as evidenced by the 5-5 all-time record.
• However, Wilmington has won five of the last six.
• Three of the last five games have been decided by just three goals or less.
• These teams met earlier in April, a 16-10 win for the Wildcats.
• It was just a two-goal game at half, 5-3, but the Wildcats started the third with four straight in just 3:15 seconds.
• Georgian Court answered with four straight of their own, but Wilmington closed out the game scoring four of the last five to get the road win.
Matt Dorrian score three goals to lead Georgian Court. 
Vincent Burkhart was under duress and made 15 saves.
• Georgian Court won just 7-30 faceoffs. 

Last Time Out
• It was an all-time classic in the CACC Semifinal Round.
• Georgian Court took on old rival Chestnut Hill for a spot in the Tournament finals.
• The Lions had a lead throughout much of the game but the Griffins continued to chip away.
• GCU was up four, 10-6 in the fourth, before the Griffins scored four of five to get within one, 11-10.
• They finally tied the game up with just four seconds left to force overtime.
• In the overtime period, GCU won the faceoff and Chestnut Hill never saw possession. 
• With the shot clock winding down, Millan Webster hit the game winner in the Lions 13-12 over time. It was the Lions first overtime game in six years. 

Individual Milestones
• With three points Doug Mackenzie can move into seventh all-time in career points scored. 
• Matt Dorrian needs two goals for 40.
• Brett Bridges is now two points away from 200. The team's all-time leader in points scored would be the first Lion to reach 200. He needs two goals to become the first 50-goal scorer in a single season. 
• Brodie Seaborn needs three goals for 30 and three points for 50. 
Joe Zerr can enter the all-time top-10 in points with two more.

Who's Hot?
• Vincent Burkhart has a save percentage of 59% in his last seven games. 
• Joe Murphy has 18 ground balls in his last six games. 
• Max Dennington has caused at least two ground balls in seven straight games. 
• Vincent Burns has points in five straight games.
Daniel Devitt won 20 of 27 faceoffs against Chesnut Hill.
• Brett Bridges has 15 goals in his last three games.

Playoff Picture
• Georgian Court is the No. 2 seed in the CACC Tournament.
• They received a bye into the semifinals and defeated Chestnut Hill in the semifinal round.
• The other semifinal round game saw Wilmington defeat Post. 
• The Championship game takes place at Dominican Saturday, May 3 between the two winners. 

All-CACC
• Ahead of the CACC semifinals, the league announced their 2025 All-Conference Team.
• Georgian Court put four on the team.
Brett Bridges became the first Lion field player to earn three All-CACC First Team Awards.
Vincent Burkhart and Joe Murphy made the Second Team. It's the third All-CACC nod for them as well.
Thomas Fleming made the All-CACC Second Team. His first career All-Conference award.

Championship History
• Georgian Court is seeking their third CACC Tournament Championship.
• They won back in 2018 and 2019.
• In their last two trips in 2021 and 2023, they fell in one-goal games. 
• The winner of the 2025 CACC Tournament Championship receives the CACC's automatic bid for the NCAA Regional. This is the first year the CACC recieves and automatic bid. 

About the Opponent
Wilmington Wildcats

• Wilmington is one of the hottest teams in Division II.
• The Wildcats are 11-3 after starting the year 0-3. Their last loss came back on March 1 against Pace, 13-8. Since then they've won 11 straight.
• Wilmington's offense can be very potent. They've scored 25 goals or more four times, including a 25-10 win in the semifinal round against Post. 
• They lead the league in points per game with 28 and goals with 17.5. Both of those are top-five in the country. 
• Wilmington also has an excellent defense which has forced turnovers in droves. They average 12 caused turnovers per game which is seventh in division II and their 75.3% opponent clearing percentage is also seventh in the country.
• Sophomore Daniel Flynn has started all 14 games in net. He has a 55.9% save percentage allowing fewer than 10 goals against and was the CACC Goalkeeper of the Year. 
• The offense is led by CACC Player of the Year Andrew Dzubak who's scored 50 goals with 27 assists.
• Six different Wildcats have scored at least 20 goals this season. 
• The Wildcats also had the CACC Defensive Player of the Year in Paul Army who's caused 21 turnovers with 36 ground balls. 
• Wilmington has excelled on faceoffs winning 60%. Connor Widmer is their man in the circle, he's won 159 draws and 68%.
