Jim Gleason Hired To Lead Georgian Court Softball

LAKEWOOD, NJ (June 24, 2025) – Georgian Court Director of Athletics Dan Sempkowski announced the hiring of Jim Gleason as the next Head Coach of Georgian Court Softball.

Gleason brings to Lakewood a tremendous amount of both playing and coaching experience. He was most recently an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at fellow CACC member Felician for the past two seasons. There he not only helped the Golden Falcons to a winning record in league play, but was tasked with the recruiting and fundraising efforts which saw more than two dozen new recruits in two years and an average of $15,000 raised per year.

Gleason will take over a Lions team that has made the CACC Tournament in seven straight seasons and 21 of the last 23. They've had seven straight seasons with a winning record in conference play and three regular season and two tournament championships during that span.

"I am thankful and honored to be the new Head Softball Coach at Georgian Court," said Gleason. "I'm excited to build upon the past achievements while leading this new chapter of Georgian Court Softball. I am putting all of my dedication and passion into building well rounded student-athletes. I want to thank Dan Sempkowski and Kristina Oritz for their navigation through the process and I'm looking forward to our success."

Before Felician, Gleason was an assistant coach for three seasons at Monmouth University where he was the hitting coach. While with the Hawks, he increased the team's batting average by 20% and their OPS by 25%. The 2021 season saw Gleason and the Hawks win their third consecutive MAAC Regular Season Championship with a 25-7 record.

Georgian Court will be Gleason's fourth coaching stop in New Jersey. Before moving to the NCAA, Gleason coached at Brookdale Community College where in 2019 they ranked as high as third in the nation and won a Region 19 Championship.

"We are pleased to announce Jim Gleason as the next Head Coach of Georgian Court University Softball," said Director of Athletics Dan Sempkowski. "His commitment to developing his student-athletes both on and off the field will be seamless fit into the department. His wide array of softball experience, as well as stops at several strong New Jersey collegiate programs, should provide him the ability to ensure Georgian Court University maintains local ties in the community, while also recruiting nationally for the right fit athletes. We look forward to the future of Georgian Court University Softball with Jim leading the way."

Aside from collegiate coaching, Gleason has other experience including North Jersey Outlaws U18 Head Coach, Softball Coordinator at University of Athletic Performance Center, and Hazlet Hawks Travel Organization Director. He's been the president and owner of Gleason Softball where he develops training classes and clinics as well as advertised, procured, organized and scheduled training.

Gleason also played the game for a number of years. From 2006-15 he was the starting shortstop for the nationally-ranked New Jersey Bulls of the USSSA.

Gleason has already gotten started with the Lions. He can be reached at for all matters concerning Georgian Court softball at jgleason@georgian.edu.
