NEW ORLEANS (July 22, 2025) - The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their final end-of-year academic awards this week. Georgian Court was honored with both teams and three student-athletes being recognized.
In order for student-athletes to be eligible for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Award, the criteria is as follows:
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale through the end of the semester of competition.
- Must have completed at least 24 semester hours/36 quarter hours through the end of the semester of competition at the institution.
- Transfer students and/or graduate students are to include only grades earned at the current nominating institution.
- The student-athlete must have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for either the indoor season or outdoor season.
Three Georgian Court throwers met the above criteria to be named to the All-Academic Team. On the men's side, senior
Robbie Babson threw an NCAA qualifying 54-6.75 in the shot put. That mark came at the CACC Championships where he won his fourth straight conference shot put title. Babson finished his Bachelor's Degree with a 3.44 GPA in Business Administration. Sophomore
Malicah Etienne hit a qualifying mark in the discus with his mark of 166-9. Etienne had a perfect 4.0 GPA last spring, bringing his cumulative GPA to a 3.66 in Criminal Justice.
The Lion women were represented by
Ava Reardon. She had a qualifying mark of 139-2 in the javelin. The academic junior carried a 3.95 GPA in Exercise Science through the end of last semester.
Both the men's and women's programs were also recognized for their overall efforts in the classroom. They made the list of All-Academic Teams. The criteria for teams is as follows:
- The cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, certifiable by the institution's registrar.
- Transfer students and/or graduate students are to include only grades earned at the current nominating institution.
Georgian Court's women's team had a cumulative GPA of a 3.51, while the men were a 3.30.
The Lions three individuals on the All-Academic Team match the most of any program in the CACC. Additionally, the Lion women had the highest GPA of any CACC school honored as an All-Academic Team and the men were the second-highest from the league.
