Men's Soccer Debuts at Fifth in CACC Preseason Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (August 18, 2025) - This afternoon the CACC kicked off the 2025 Men's Soccer season with the release of their Preseason Coaches Poll. Georgian Court, who advanced to the CACC Tournament semifinals for the second straight season were picked to finish fifth in the standings as voted on by the league's coaches.

The Lions were fifth with 67 total points in the poll, just one point behind fourth-placed Bridgeport. Felician, Post and Wilmington make up the top-three. Felician garnered seven first place votes while Post picked up two and Wilmington one. Also earning a first-place vote was Jefferson who was picked to finish sixth in the 11-team league.

A year ago the Lions finished 11-8-1 overall and were 8-3 in the CACC. That eight-win CACC total matched their most in a season in program history and was the first time reaching eight conference wins since 2018. The Lions earned the No. 2 seed in the CACC Tournament and advanced to the semifinal round for the second straight year.

Following the season, Gijs Van Eif made the All-CACC First Team and garnered All-Region recognition as he scored 14 goals and 30 points. Mikey Mallon also made the All-CACC First Team while Vitor Antelo made the Second Team. Van Eif and Mallon are both back to lead the offense.

The squad will again be led by 13th year Head Coach Dino Raso. Raso was named the CACC Coach of the Year last season, his first time earning the honor.

This season, Georgian Court opens up at home with a pair of games in Lakewood opening weekend. They'll host Saint Michael's Thursday, Sept. 4 to get the season started and are right back on the pitch Saturday, Sept. 6 against Bentley. GCU's first conference game comes on the road Saturday, Sept. 20 at Bridgeport. The Lions will see all 10 conference opponents and have seven nonconference games scheduled. In addition to the two opening weekend, GCU hosts Millersville while playing on the road at St. Thomas Aquinas, Staten Island, Roberts Wesleyan and Daemen.

At season's end, the top eight teams in the standings will qualify for the CACC Championship tournament. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be held on Nov. 9 and 12 at campus sites. Post will host the championship final on Nov. 15 at LaMoy Field in Waterbury, Conn. The CACC champion will automatically qualify for the 2025 NCAA Division II Super Region 1 Championship.
