"Voice of the Lions", Andrew Bern, Named New Assistant Director of Athletics

Andrew-BernLAKEWOOD, NJ (Oct. 20, 2026) - After nearly six years as the "Voice of the Lions", Andrew Bern has been elevated to Assistant Director of Athletics for Event Management & Broadcast Services.

In his new role, Bern will be in charge of broadcast production, including all web-streaming activities. He will oversee gameday operations such as facilities and staffing and serve as the primary media contact for Men's Soccer, Men's Basketball, Softball, and Men's Lacrosse. He will continue as the "Voice of the Lions" on the CACC Digital Network.

"Andrew has been an asset to Georgian Court since he became known as the "Voice of the Lions" in 2021," said Director of Athletics Dan Sempkowski. "Families of our student-athletes continually praise his talent in calling a game and his anecdotes that keep the viewer engaged. With his new role, we are excited to watch him elevate the student-athlete experience on the broadcasts and on social media while also enhancing the game day experience. Having someone familiar with the inner workings of GCU Athletics will allow Andrew to hit the ground running."

"Since my arrival at Georgian Court in January of 2021, this place has felt like home," said Bern. "My goal has always been to enhance the viewer's experience on the CACC Digital Network. Sharing the amazing stories of our Division II student-athletes and the unbridled energy of our coaches is something that gives me great pleasure. My new position will encompass an even greater focus on our student-athletes through pregame stories, postgame recaps, and social media highlights. I am grateful that my experiences have brought me back to Georgian Court University and my roots."

Prior to his arrival at GCU, Bern was a member of the Athletic Communication staff at Midwestern State University as Assistant Sports Information Director from August of 2019 to July of 2020. He assisted in the communication, marketing, and promotion of the school's 13-intercollegiate sports and served as the primary media contact for Men's and Women's Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Softball, and Men's and Women's Tennis. Additionally, he provided play-by-play commentary for Men's and Women's Soccer, Men's and Women's Basketball (road games), and Softball on ESPN Radio 95.5 and the Mustangs Digital Network. Bern also hosted the Midwestern State Basketball Coaches Show and the Stang Gang Podcast and was named the 2020 Lone Star Conference Broadcaster of the Year.

Bern earned his Bachelor's Degree with honors in Communication with an emphasis in Radio and Television from Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey.
