NEW HAVEN, CT- The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) has announced its All-Academic team for the 2009 fall athletic season. A total of 149 student-athletes among the 14 conference schools, including six Georgian Court University representatives, have earned a spot on the team this year.
The Lions' selections include: senior
Alley Abbate (Soccer, Business Administration, 3.82 GPA), junior
Giovanna Cartagena (Volleyball, Music, 3.80 GPA), senior
Caitlyn Lawrence (Tennis, Business Administration, 3.53 GPA); junior
Heather Miara (XC, Business Administration, 3.68 GPA), senior
Oge Okeke (XC, Biology, 3.82 GPA) and sophomore
Shealyn Sullivan (Soccer, History, 3.84 GPA).
A total of 18 student-athletes, including
Oge Okeke, have earned All-Academic status for the third time.
Alley Abbate, Heather Miara and 31 others were honored for the second time.
In order to be named to the CACC All-American team, recipients must have participated in a CACC Championship sport in the fall. They must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester.
