PHILADELPHIA, PA- The Georgian Court University soccer team had its four-game winning streak snapped Thursday afternoon with a 5-1 defeat at the hands of the reigning CACC-champion Holy Family University Tigers. The result took a backseat, however, as Lions' goalkeeper, Shealyn Sullivan, had to be removed from the contest at 28:00 after suffering a leg injury.
GCU (6-4-1, 5-2 CACC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 17:40 when Candace Seaton knocked home a Kelly Lyons' dish for her fourth goal of the season.
The wheels quickly fell off of the proverbial bus soon after that for Georgian Court as the Tigers (5-4-1, 4-2-1 CACC) rattled of five unanswered tallies, including a hat trick from sophomore forward Megan Tole (Philadelphia, PA).
Sullivan, who came into the contest with a 0.58 goals-against average, collected four saves and yielded two goals before her departure. Back-up keeper Sammie Jo Garofalo, making her debut with the Lions, denied four Holy Family shots, while permitting three goals, in 62:00.
Georgian Court stays on the road as they travel to Post University in Waterbury, CT this Saturday for a 1:00 PM CACC showdown. Sullivan is expected to be back in net for the Lions.
