LAKEWOOD, NJ- Francisco Casado, head coach of the four-time CACC champion Georgian Court University volleyball team, recently hosted and shared his expertise with area campers at GCU's five-day volleyball summer camp.
The camp, which took place from July 5-9 in the Georgian Court University Wellness Center, was developed to benefit not only the varsity starter and club player that aspires to play at the collegiate level, but also the middle school or high school player that is relatively new to the game of volleyball.
Coach Casado and his staff created and designed a program focused on the individual skills of passing, serving, hitting, blocking and setting, while also incorporating game concepts, specifically offensive and defensive systems.
Under Coach Casado's tutilege, the Lions have won four consecutive CACC titles while advancing to the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament in each of those seasons. In fact, Georgian Court had the distinct honor of earning the first NCAA tournament victory ever by a CACC volleyball squad with a defeat of Merrimack College in the first round of the 2008 "dance."
Casado's Lions are winners of 73 straight matches vs CACC opponents, just four short of the national record of 77 straight conference victories, established by West Texas A&M in 2003.
GCU opens the 2010 campaign at home on Thursday, September 2nd (5 PM) vs. NYIT.
