Freshman Churnesky Claims Spot on All-CACC Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Nov. 19, 2025) - The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) announced their 2025 All-Conference selections Wednesday afternoon. Following their season, the Lions had one individual make the team, with freshman Ava Churnesky on the Third Team at outside hitter.

Churnesky's spot on the All-CACC team marks something that hasn't been done in two decades. It's been 20 years since Georgian Court last had a freshman on the All-CACC team. That honor belonged to Claudimary Rivera who was Honorable Mention in 2005. In fact Churnesky is just the third Lion freshman in the NCAA-era to make the All-CACC Volleyball Team, joining Rivera in 2005 and Rebecca Walczak in 2004.

Churnesky finished the year with 239 kills, averaging 2.81 kills per set, eighth in the CACC. She was a primary offensive weapon for the Lions and hit .130. No one on the team had more attacks per set than Churnesky's 9.22, which ranked fifth in the league. Offense was just part of her game though, as Churnesky also averaged 1.86 digs per game and put back 28 blocks on the year. She was one of just four in the CACC this season to average at least 2.80 kills, 1.80 digs and finish with at least 25 blocks on the season.

In 12 games this season, Churnesky finished with double-figure kills and picked up kills-digs double-doubles in five. Churnesky hit a season-best 17 kills in a three-set win over Queens back in September.
