LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Georgian Court University soccer squad suffered its second straight defeat Thursday afternoon at Investors Savings Bank Field, falling to visiting Dowling College, 2-1, in double overtime. The Golden Lions, winners of four straight, improve to 9-2-1 while GCU drops to 8-5-1.

Dowling's Allie Merrill (Fr.-Levittown, NY) proved to be the proverbial thorn in the paw of the Georgian Court Lions as she tallied both scores in the Golden Lions' road victory. Merrill provided the initial goal of the game at 25:59 with a nifty shot to the upper left corner of the net, courtesy of an Alexis Parrotta (Sr.-Centereach, NY) pass. 

GCU answered in the 60th minute (59:32) when Rachael Tremblay one-timed a Katie Vecchio pass to tie the contest at 1-1. For Tremblay, the goal marked her first of the campaign. The contest would remain knotted until Merrill struck again in the 107th minute (106:41) as the freshman soldified the road win off an assist from Kayla Mueger (Sr.-Farmingdale, NY).

Golden Lions' goalkeeper Melissa Guglielmo (So.-West Babylon, NY) earned the victory in net with four saves. GCU netminder #Casey O'Connor# suffered the valiant defeat, collecting 12 saves in the effort. Dowling outshot the home squad, 19-9, and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Georgian Court returns to CACC competition Saturday afternoon when they play a special Homecoming Day contest vs. visiting Bloomfield College at 1:30 PM.
