Lakewood, N.J.- On a spectacular sunny spring afternoon, the Georgian Court University softball squad honored its six-member senior class prior to playing a key east regional twin-bill vs. Le Moyne College Tuesday. The Lions, #7 team in the east, won the opener, 1-0, before the #9 Dolphins took the nightcap by a 5-2 score.
Prior to first pitch, GCU celebrated seniors
Deanna Daluise, Emma Erbig, Justine Mattia, Taylor McDonough, Briana Molino, and
Tina Morgan during an on-field ceremony.
GAME ONEStarting pitchers Morgan and Le Moyne's
Sarah Harrison traded zeroes for the first 3 1/2 innings, with Georgian Court's starting hurler striking out the side in each of the first two frames of the contest. The stretch of goose eggs ended in the home half of the fourth inning when McDonough led off the frame and took Harrison deep to left field for her team-leading ninth homer of the year.
Le Moyne's best opportunity to score came in the top of the sixth inning when the Dolphins had runners on second and third, but the visitors falied to plate the tying tally. Both squads collected six hits each while GCU owned a 7-6 advantage with regards to runners left on base.
Morgan increased her record to 5-4 in the complete-game shutout, scattering six hits and mowing down seven Le Moyne batters. Harrison dipped to 15-10 after yielding just the lone run on six hits and a walk (7 K) in six innings.

Meghan Sfraga (2-for-3) rapped two of the Lions' six knocks.
GAME TWOThe Le Moyne bats immediately went to work in inning one of game two as the Dolphins brought in four runs on three hits, two walks, and a GCU fielding blunder to take a quick 4-0 lead. A ribbie single by 2B Sarah Tram increased the score to 5-zip visitors, essentially putting the game out of reach for the GCU nine.
Harrison returned to the circle for Le Moyne, this time picking up the triumph and improving to 16-10 (7.0 IP, 11 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2K). Daluise tumbled to 10-8 after lasting only 1.1 innings in the start (4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB).
McDonough remained hot at the dish for GCU, compiling a 3-for-4 effort and her 41st RBI of the year. C
Dara Schroeder went 2-for-4 with two runs scored at top of Georgian Court's lineup.
The Lions remain out of conference when they head to Kutztown University Wednesday afternoon for a 2:30 p.m. double dip.
