Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University, coming off a 30-win campaign (30-23), released its 2019 schedule Thursday, highlighted by return trips to South Carolina and Florida to start the campaign.
The Lions kick off the year with their second straight appearance in the Myrtle Beach Snowbird Softball Freeze Out, Feb. 15-17, followed by their annual trek to the PFX Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. The slate will be anything but easy in the Sunshine State as GCU takes on #2 Saint Anselm College (Mar. 5), which advanced to the NCAA Division II Championship Finals a year ago, and #23 LIU Post (Mar. 6), which begins its final season before moving to the NCAA Division I ranks in 2020.
Georgian Court will also take on perennial power, West Virginia Wesleyan (Mar 5), which received votes in the final National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) poll of 2018.Â
GCU kicks off its home slate on Tuesday, March 12 vs. Adelphi University, which also received votes in the NFCA poll, followed by the Lions' first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at SEI Investments Field on March 16 vs. Nyack College.
Another key conference game includes a visit to the reigning CACCÂ champions, Caldwell University, on April 16. The Lions host 2018Â CACCÂ finalist, Dominican College, on April 27 in GCU's final regular-season outing of the year.
The Lions will again host the postseason, this time as part of the inaugural CACC Championship Festival, with the 2019 tournament taking place in Lakewood, N.J., May 2-4.
