Caitlyn Hughes Represents Lions on 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball Team

Lakewood, N.J.- Georgian Court University's Caitlyn Hughes has earned the distinct honor of selection to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball Team, released Thursday.

Hughes, a business administration major from Glen Gardner, N.J., owns a cumulative grade-point average of 3.66, joining Tyler Beccari of Holy Family University and Nicole Spiegelberg of Felician University as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's only representatives on this elite list.

The 2020 Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Caitlyn, along with her fellow First-team Academic All-District™ honorees, advances to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second, and third team All-America honorees will be selected in June.

The 2018 CACC Rookie of the Year and two-time All-CACC first team selection achieved all-region status for the first time last season after batting .311 for the NCAA Division II Tournament-bound Lions. In 123 career games sporting the royal and gold, the sweet-swinging speedster owns a .321 batting average (119-for-371) with 102 runs scored, a program-record 17 triples, and an incredible .932 stolen base percentage (55-for-59).

Also a star in the classroom, Hughes has landed on the CACC All-Academic team in each of the past two years while receiving induction into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, last month.
