Jan Volkmar erased the team pole vault record in his first outdoor meet as a Lion as the Georgian Court University men's track & field kicked off the 2022 spring season with seven top-3 finishes in the two-day Monmouth University Outdoor Home Opener.
Volkmar secured the top-spot in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.75 meters in the record-breaking performance. The freshman bests the Lions' previous-high of 4.55m, established by
Evan Boyce during the 2019 campaign (4/17/19, Shippensburg University Invite).
In jumps action,
Jeshurun Devero took the second spot in the triple jump with his effort of 14.24 meters.
Dylan Breen finished third overall at 6.65 meters in the long jump.
DaShawn Lamar-Baldwin, who scored his first collegiate goal earlier in the as a member of the GCU men's lacrosse team, tied for fourth in the high jump at 1.90 meters.
The Lions represented well in the throwing events as
Robbie Babson (15.13m) and
Alejandro Valdez (15.02m) placed second and third, respectively, in the shot put.
Kyle Muir, now a graduate student, fired a javelin toss of 51.63 meters to commence his final collegiate campaign, good enough for third-place.
On the track,
Chukwuebizie Anuamadi hustled to a third-place time of 1:58.54 in the 800m run. The quartet of
Noah Roach,
Julian Rodriguez,
Henry Jean-Michel, and Breen enjoyed a fourth-place mark of 43.74 seconds in the 4X100 relay.
