Georgian Court Lands Three Lions on 2022 NFCA Division II All-East Region Team

Louisville, Ky. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its 2022 NFCA Division II All-Region teams Wednesday, a squad that consists of three members from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champions ... Georgian Court University. 1B Kaitlyn Stufft represented the Lions on the East Region first team while RHP Mikayla Gilgert and C Adriana Mungo earned spots on the East Region second team.

Each honoree is now eligible for selection to the 2022 NFCA Division II All-America squad.

Stufft, the CACC Player of the Year, started the season hot and never cooled as the slugging first baseman tops the conference with 61 hits, 18 home runs, 66 RBI, 133 total bases, and a slugging percentage of 816. Batting at a .393 clip, the native of Temecula, Calif. has a hit in all but 12 of her 51 contests, including 20 outings with two or more knocks.

The sophomore slugger, who eclipsed the program record for RBI in a single season (65-NCAA Division II era), has turned heads nationally with her selection as Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week (for the week of March 21-27).

Gilgert, the 2022 CACC Pitcher of the Year, was absolutely sensational in the circle as the senior slinger won the pitching Triple Crown with a conference leading 25 wins (25-7), 169 strikeouts, and a miniscule ERA of 1.96.

The native of Apache Junction, Ariz. has recorded five 10+ strikeout efforts, fanning a season-high 12 on two separate occasions. The GCU ace opened the 2022 campaign in stellar fashion, firing her second collegiate no-hitter in a 3-0 blanking of the University of Bridgeport in Winter Haven, Fla. Gilgert also joined forces with counterpart, Sarah Clancy, to fling a combined 9-0, five-inning perfect game at USciences last month.

Mungo, a First Team pick in '21, continues to be a consistent presence atop the Georgian Court lineup as the lefty-swinging backstop batted a smooth .375 with 63 hits (2nd in CACC), four triples (3rd), and 105 total bases (2nd). The sophomore from Temecula, Calif. also clubbed a career-high five long balls while leading the conference with 19 doubles.
