Lakewood, N.J.- The Temecula, Calif. tandem of
Adriana Mungo and
Kaitlyn Stufft, both All-Region athletes on the softball diamond, has also demonstrated distinction in the classroom as the Georgian Court duo earns selection to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball Team, released last week.
Mungo, a sophomore accounting major, owns a grade-point average of 3.85 while Stufft, a sophomore criminal justice major, has earned a cumulative average of 3.50. The GCU representatives join
Emma Cooney (Caldwell University) and
Gabrielle Simms (University of the Sciences) as the only members of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference on this elite list.
Stufft, the CACC Player of the Year and D2CCA East Region Player of the Year, started the season hot and never cooled as the slugging first baseman topped the conference with 66 hits, 19 home runs, 66 RBI, 138 total bases, and a slugging percentage of .793. The sophomore slugger, who eclipsed the program record for RBI in a single season (65-NCAA Division II era), turned heads nationally with her earning a Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II Player/Pitcher of the Year Top-25 selection and as Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week (for the week of March 21-27).
Mungo, a D2CCA and NFCA All-Region pick, continued to be a consistent presence atop the Georgian Court lineup as the lefty-swinging backstop batted a smooth .367 with a conference-leading 66 hits, four triples (3rd), and 108 total bases (2nd). Adriana also clubbed a career-high five long balls while leading the conference with 19 doubles.
The 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.Â
Adriana and Kaitlyn, along with their fellow First-team Academic All-Districtâ„¢ honorees, advance to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second, and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.  Â
