VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (March 10, 2023) - Georgian Court senior Aniyah Russell was in action Friday night representing the Lions at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships. 

Russell competed in the long jump where she finished in 12th place among 20 competitors. Russell's best mark was 18-10.5 (5.75m).

The national field saw 20 competitors broken down into two heats. Russell entered the meet with the sixth-best mark of the season and was jumping from heat two. On her first attempt, she jumped 18-7.25 (5.67m). She improved a bit on her second attempt, hitting 18-10.5. Knowing she needed to hit a big jump to make it into the top-nine to advance to finals, Russell took her best shot but fouled to finish her day in 12th place.

This was the second straight indoor championship meet for Russell.

Georgian Court will have one more competitor tomorrow afternoon. Jeshurun Devero jumps in the triple jump at 4:05 p.m.
