NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 25, 2026) - It was a terrific opening week to the outdoor season for Georgian Court Track and Field. There were strong performances across the board with first place finishes and new personal-bests. Among those who stood out were three that earned a weekly award from the CACC.

Malicah Etienne was named the Field Athlete of the Week while Shona Mutokuto and Sigurlaug Sveinsdottir were the respective male and female Rookies of the Week.

Etienne threw the shot put and discus and was the top collegiate finisher in both events. He is also the current conference leader in both events and hit CACC qualifying marks. In the shot put, Etienne threw 49-11 on his second attempt which was good for a second-place overall and top collegiate finisher at the Stockton Invitational. His discus mark of 163-2 was almost 30 feet further than second place. 

Jumping collegiately for the first time outdoors, Shona Mutokuto reached the CACC qualifying standard. He finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 45-1.75. That jump puts him second in the conference and is the top mark by a freshman. He also jumped to fourth on the Lions all-time top-10 list outdoors in the event.

Sigurlaug Sveinsdottir also competed in two events, one throwing and one jumping. She finished in second place in the shot put throwing a personal-best 39-8.5. That throw currently leads the CACC and is eighth all-time outdoors for GCU. Sveinsdottir had another top-three finish at the Stockton Invitational as she took third in the long jump. Her final attempt of the day saw her jump 16-7 for third place. She currently sits fourth in the event in the conference. 

In addition to the three weekly award winners, Brandon Rudder and Adrianna Fodera made the weekly Honor Roll.

Georgian Court is back in action this week. They'll compete Friday and Saturday at the Monmouth Home Opener.
