NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 30, 2023) - The hits keep on coming for Georgian Court Softball junior Adriana Mungo. The conference leader in RBI has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Student-Athlete of the Month.

The CACC Student-Athlete of the Month Award is handed out each month from September through May, spanning the course of the academic calendar. Each monthly award winner is chosen among all CACC men's and women's teams that competed during that month and must be a standout in athletics, be a terrific student and give back to their local communities.

During the season's first month, Mungo batted .467 in 10 games, getting the Lions off to a 7-3 start. She knocked in 14 runs, while scoring six herself. Half of her 14 hits during the month went for extra bases. Mungo's strong opening month comes after picking up First Team All-CACC honors for the 2022 season. 

The Temecula, Calif., native holds a 3.88 grade point average and is majoring in Accounting. She was named to the CACC All-Academic Team in 2022, is a multiple time Dean's List honoree and made last season's CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

In the community, Mungo has participated in local breast cancer awareness walks to raise money to fight the disease. She has also teamed up with fellow Georgian Court softball players to host skills clinics for local children. Mungo has served as a GCU Christmas Angel to partner with local organizations to purchase presents for local families in need during the Christmas season.

This is the fourth time in six months the CACC Student-Athlete of the month award went to someone from Georgian Court. Nylene Mateo from Lions Volleyball and Kyle Spector from GCU Cross Country earned the award in the fall and Clint Wright, Jr. from Men's Basketball was a recipient in the winter.
