NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 7, 2023) - Another weekly CACC Softball award makes its way to Lakewood. This week, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tabbed Lions freshman Savannah Simons as the Rookie of the Week.

Simons and the Lions played three doubleheaders last week against Division II teams from North and South Carolina. She finished the week starting all six games and hitting .375 with six hits in 16 at bats. She scored three times and drove in four runs. 

To close out the week, Simons was 2-3 with a double and an RBI in game two against Barton. Earlier against Francis Marion, Simons hit her first collegiate home run.

This is the third straight week the Lions have picked up one of the CACC weekly awards. Sarah Clancy was named the Pitcher of the Week back on Feb. 20 and Adriana Mungo was last week's Player of the Week.

Georgian Court plays at home for the first time this season Saturday, March 11. They host Southern New Hampshire for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
