ROCHESTER, NY (Nov. 9, 2024) - Georgian Court Cross Country sent a handful of student-athletes to compete at the 2024 NCAA Division II East Region Championship race Saturday morning. While neither team had enough to count towards the team scoring, there were still some strong performances across the board.

The morning started with the men's 10K race. This is the first and only time this season the men have run a 10K. Georgian Court went out and ran as a pack that stayed together for much of the race. Ryan Pettrow, the only Lion to compete in this race a year ago, led GCU finishing in 84th place running 34:50.1.

Joe Jamolawicz, Nolan Kus and Matthew Schaub all finished within nine places and 31 seconds of each other. Jamolawicz was 96th in 35:13.9, Kus 100th in 35:32.9 and Schaub 104th in 35:44.5.

Southern Connecticut State was the team champion, edging out Roberts Wesleyan by just 11 points. Owen White of Roberts Wesleyan was the individual champ. In an exciting race down the finish, he overtook Caldwell's Talik Datta and ran 31:15.5 to win the individual crown.

Amirah Beasley and Madalin Jones ran for the Lion women. Beasley continually moved up throughout the race. She was in 88th place a little more than 2K into the 6K race, but she climbed up 30 spots and finished in 58th running 24:18.9. Jones finished in 116th place, crossing the line in 26:51.3. Both Beasley and Jones improved upon their time from last season's NCAA regional meet and ran their fastest 6K race this season.
