Lions Continue Successful Start to Indoor Season in Virginia

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Jan. 31, 2025) - Georgian Court Track and Field was back in action again Friday afternoon at the Marlin Invite, hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach, Va. The Lions enjoyed another successful day on the track as the indoor season reaches its midway point. 

Sprints
Leela McConnell was the only Lion to run the 60m and 200m dashes. She finished 26th in both races, running 8.79 for 60m and 29.01 for 200m.
• Running alongside McConnell in the 200m was Jewel Pierrecharles who took 19th place in 27.34. 
Molly Burns was the only Lion on the women's side to run at 400m. She finished 17th in 1:05.70.
Ivan Ramos-Lopez set a personal-best in the 60m dash placing 27th in 7.26 which is good for seventh all-time at GCU. 
• Rafael Wolf was 41st in 7.63 and Joshua Tipaldo 50th in 8.25.
Karmjeet Nagara ran his first indoor 200m dash with the Lions. He took 35th place in 24.16.
• In the 400m, the Lion men had four compete led by Wayne Robinson's 14th place finish in 51.54.
Brandon Rudder was 17th in 51.82, James McCoy 25th in 53.50 and Marcos Murillo-Benevides 27th in 53.80.

Distance
Ryan Pettrow picked up an event win in the mile breaking the tape in 4:31.59.
• Joseph Jamolawicz and Luke McCormick each ran personal-best times in the mile. Jamolawicz was sixth in 4:46.24 while McCormick was 16th in 5:06.56. Matthew Schaub took 14th running 5:05.22.
• There were two top-10 finishes in the men's 800m. Zachary Spoonire was fourth in 2:02.65 while Colin Broadbelt ran a personal-best 2:04.89 for eighth place. 
• Also finishing with a top-five finish in the 800m was Amirah Beasley. She ran 2:26.57 for fifth place.
Jurnee Tuttle was 27th in 2:51.24 and Kerry Ann Hohenshilt ran her first 800m race for the Lions in 3:15.83 which put her in 31st place. 
Brenna Sullivan competed in the women's mile and finished in 6:31.12 to place 22nd in the field. 

Jumps/Hurdles
Julian Rodriguez competed in both the pole vault and the 60m hurdles. He cleared 13-5.25 in the pole vault which was good for second place. He made the finals of the hurdles after running 8.92 in the prelims. In the finals, Rodriguez finished eighth running 9.07.
Ivan Ramos-Lopez also jumped in the pole vault and finished third with a mark of 12-5.5. 
Matthew Sutton got off only one legal jump in the triple jump, but his mark of 41-11.25 was good enough for 11th place. 
• The Lions had a top-10 finisher in the women's triple jump. Jewel Pierrecharles took seventh jumping 34-8.5 on her first jump of the competition.
• Over in the high jump, Julianna Dogostino placed 11th getting over the bar at 4-8.25.

Throws
• Chiamaka Wokochia took fifth overall in the weight throw with her mark of 42-9.75.
Adrianna Fodera threw both the shot and the weight. She was 11th in the shot put throwing 35-8 and threw a personal-best 36-6.75 in the weight for 13th place.
Mark Linton led the Lion men in the weight throw. He was second overall throwing a personal-best 49-10.
Anthony Lorenzo took seventh at 43-8.75 while Guius Dabney was 11th with a big personal-best throwing 37-8.75. 
• Georgian Court's men put three in the top-five of the shot put. Robbie Babson won the event throwing 51-3.5. He was followed by Mark Linton who set a personal-best with his throw of 48-4.75 which is eighth all-time in Lions history. 
Malicah Etienne finished in fifth place throwing 47-6.25. Anthony Lorenzo rounded out the field for the Lions throwing 37-1 for 16th place.
