NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Oct. 27, 2025) - Georgian Court Men's Soccer was all smiles Saturday afternoon following a 3-0 win over Dominican. The good times kept coming Monday as the CACC announced two Lions received Player of the Week awards.
In helping GCU to a victory over the Chargers, goalkeeper
Ayendi Batista was named the Goalkeeper of the Week and defenseman
Anthony Ryan earned the Defender of the Week Award.
Batista is no stranger to the Goalkeeper of the Week honor. This is his second this season and third in the last two years. Batista kept everything in front of him Saturday, making four saves in the win. The win moved him to second all-time at GCU in career wins with 16. It's his third shutout this season and seventh of his career. He also moved up to third all-time at GCU in career shutouts.Â
For Ryan it's been a week of firsts for the junior. This is Ryan's first career Defensive Player of the Week nod. Not only was he a driving force as one of Batista's last lines of defense in preserving the shutout, Ryan stepped up on offense and scored his first career goal. An excellent left-footed, one-timer that gave GCU a 2-0 lead.
Georgian Court has two games this week. The first one is Wednesday, Oct. 29 as they travel to Goldey-Beacom. They play again on the road Saturday, Nov. 1 at Post.Â
