STATEN ISLAND, NY (Feb. 28, 2025) - Georgian Court Track and Field had one final indoor track and field meet this season. They sent five to the Fastrack Last Chance Meet at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island. All five student-athletes competed in just one event with two distance runners on the track and two throwers in the circle.
Track
• On the track,
Ryan Pettrow picked up a third place finish and a new personal-best in the mile. He ran 4:22.13 which moved him to fifth all-time in GCU history. Pettrow was the top Division II finisher in the field. With two laps to go, Pettrow moved up from fourth to second place, but he was outkicked in the end by former Lion
Kyle Spector and fell to third overall.
•
Amirah Beasley ran the 800m. She finished 11th overall running 2:22.67. Beasley went out hard running, 33 for her first 200m and 67 for her first 400m before finishing in 2:22.67.
Field
• GCU sent threw men's throwers to compete.
Robbie Babson and
Malicah Etienne threw the shot while
Mark Linton threw the weight.
• Babson was fourth overall, second among collegiate throwers and first among NCAA Division II throwers with his mark of 53-8.
• Etienne was two spots behind Babson in sixth place throwing 49-5.25 on his final attempt.Â
•
Mark Linton threw the weight six times, but only recorded one legal mark. That came on his third attempt and his throw of 50-9 was still good enough for fourth place in the competition.Â
Georgian Court Track and Field will take nearly a month off before opening up spring competition. They're next on the track Saturday, March 22 at the Stockton Invitational.
