GALLOWAY, NJ (March 22, 2025) - Georgian Court Track and Field opened up the outdoor season Saturday afternoon, putting on a terrific display, loaded with personal-bests.
Sprints
•
Molly Burns was the only Lion on the women's side to double-up on the track. She was ninth in the 400m running 1:04.77 and 18th in the 200m running 28.55.
•
Leela McConnell ran the 100m and set a new personal-best in 13.60 to take 13th place.
• Wayne Robinson secured a top-five finish in the 200m running 22.86 for third overall.
•
Nick Jordan and
Joshua Tipaldo each ran the 100m and 200m dashes. Jordan was 29th in the 100m running 11.77 and Tipaldo 42nd in 12.93. Jordan finished 29th as well in the 200m running 23.97 while Tipaldo was 38th in 26.77.
• In the 400m,
James McCoy led the group running 53.55 for 22nd place which is an outdoor personal-best for McCoy.
•
Marcos Murillo-Benavides wasn't far behind McCoy. He finished in 24th place in 54.39.
Abdullah Brown ran his first 400m race at GCU and finished 34th in 1:01.77
Distance
• All Georgian Court distance runners ran the 800m.
• For the men
Zachary Spoonire led the way with a fifth place finish and personal-best time 2:00.45 which is just outside the all-time top-10.
•
Ryan Pettrow took ninth place running 2:03.40.
Nolan Kus and Joseph Jamolawicz finished 16th and 18th with Kus running 2:08.67 in his first 800m race for GCU while Jamolawicz ran 2:09.10.
•
Matthew Schaub and
Luke McCormick also ran their first 800m races with the Lions. Schuab was 29th in 2:16.82 while McCormick was 39th in 2:24.02.
• GCU also had a top-five finish on the women's side.
Amirah Beasley ran 2:24.01 to finish second overall.
•
Jurnee Tuttle took 23rd in 2:47.71,
Kerry Ann Hohenshilt was 31st in 3:03.17 and
Brenna Sullivan 36th in 3:12.36.
• The distance crew also put together a 4x400m relay team. Pettrow, Kus, Spoonire and Jamolawicz ran 3:51.84 for 10th place.
• The women were ninth in 5:00.71.
Jumps
• Both
Tishanna Cohen and
Jewel Pierrecharles entered the Lions all-time top-10 list in the triple jump.
• Cohen took third with her mark of 35-7.25 which puts her seventh all-time. Pierrecharles was third at 35-2 and is tied for eighth in Lions history.
•
Juliana Dogostino tied for ninth in the high jump clearing 4-6.
• It was a good day for
Julian Rodriguez. He won the pole vault clearing 12-11.5 and set a new PR in the high jump of 5-11.25. That mark was good for 10th overall and puts him eighth in Lions history.
•
Ivan Ramos-Lopez competed in the vault as well finishing second jumping 12-5.5.
• In the triple jump,
Matthew Sutton took 10th with his mark of 39-2.5.
Throws
• It was a big day for
Mark Linton. In his first meet he entered the Lions all-time top-10 in three events. He finished the day winning the discus throwing 155-9 on his final throw of the day, 18 total. That mark puts him sixth in Lions history. Linton also was third in the shot put throwing 49-5.75 which is eighth at GCU and fourth in the hammer throw at 148-11 with is sixth.
•
Robbie Babson was the winner in the shot put throwing 54-1 which is an outdoor personal-best. He's just the third Lion to throw further than 54 feet in the shot put outdoors. Babson also finished third in the hammer throw with a mark of 157-3.
•
Malicah Etienne had two second place finishes on the day. He was second in the shot put throwing 51-5.5 which is an outdoor personal-best and fifth in school history. He was also second in the discus. He too saved his best for last throwing 146-2 on his final attempt.
•
Anthony Lorenzo picked up a top-10 finish in the shot put throwing 43-3.75 for ninth place and a new personal-best. He was also ninth in the hammer throw at 118-3.
•
Guius Dabney finished just outside the top-10 in the hammer throw. His toss of 11-6 was good for 11th overall. Dabney was also 16th in the shot put with a personal-best throw 41-1.5.
• Making his 2025 track debut,
Thomas Menegus set a personal-best in the shot put throwing 42-0.5 for 14th place. He was also 17th in the discus at 111-8, another personal-best.
• The women also had some event winners in the throws.
Ava Reardon, also making her 2025 track debut won the javelin throwing 121-3.
•
Kaydence Fischer was the winner of the discus throwing 130-10 in her first outdoor meet at GCU and immediately moved to fourth all-time in program history. She also finished second in the shot put throwing a personal-best 37-9.5 and was sixth in the hammer throw at 107-9.
•
Chiamaka Wokocha had a pair of top-five finishes. She was second in the hammer throw with her mark of 138-6, just two inches short of her personal-best. She also finished fourth in the discus throwing 122-0.
•
Adrianna Fodera competed in three events and was top-10 in all three. She was fourth in the shot put throwing 35-1 and the hammer throw at 121-1. She also finished seventh in the javelin throwing 102-8.
•
Sabrina Halk set a personal-best in the discus throwing 113-2 for sixth place. She took seventh in the hammer throw at 107-7.
•
Juliana Dogostino also competed in the javelin and was 11th at 89-6.
Georgian Court is back on the track next weekend competing at the Monmonth Season Opener Friday-Saturday, March 28-29.
