NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 2, 2026) - Just because Georgian Court Baseball is now in their second year as a program, doesn't mean there aren't program firsts still to come. They picked up one of those program firsts as the Lions got their first ever CACC Player of the Week honor. 

Brian Guzman will forever hold that distinction as the first Lion to be named the CACC Player of the Week. Guzman and the Lions played five games last week, which started back on Monday with the finale of the three-game series against Lynn, and continued with the four game tournament this past weekend in Wilson, NC.

Over those five games, Guzman started all five and hit .476 going 10-21 with a double, triple, two home runs, six runs scored and six driven in. He also drew three walks for a .542 on-base percentage. Guzman was a help in the field as well seeing time at both first base and in left field.

In the five games, Guzman picked up multiple hits in four. GCU twice faced St. Thomas Aquinas last weekend and Guzman was a combined 5-8 with a home run, four RBI and four runs scored. 

Georgian Court is back in action this upcoming weekend. They play in Olney, Maryland for their final weekend before conference action starts up.
