Georgian Court University's
Aniyah Russell made history yet again Saturday as the high-flying senior not only shredded her own team record in the Long Jump, but secured the 4th-best leap in the nation, essentially solidifying an appearance for herself in next month's NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Russell, performing in Boston University's Bruce Lehane Scarlett & White Invite, topped all-comers in a contest chock full of Division I talent with a first-place mark of 6.05 meters. The effort smashes her previous program-best of 5.82 meters, originally established back on Feb. 29, 2020 in the Armory Leap Year Invite (New York, N.Y.).
Shanae Rayside (3rd-place) and
Elena Martinez Rodriguez (7th-place) also enjoyed success on the runway in the Triple Jump, with respective distances of 11.31m and 10.87m.
