Track and Field Back in Action at Shippensburg Midweek Bonanza

LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 15, 2026) - Georgian Court Track and Field got a week off last week but are right back in the swing of things for the second half of their outdoor schedule.

What
Shippensburg Midweek PR Bonanza

Where
Shippensburg, PA

When
Thursday, April 16 - 2 pm

Outdoor Track
• The outdoor season brings with it new events, especially in the throwing events as the discus, hammer throw and javelin are all competed outdoors.
• On the track, the shortest sprint jumps from a 60m to 100m. That goes for hurdles as well with the 100m hurdles for women and 110m hurdles for men. There is also a second hurdle race added, the 400m intermediate hurdles.
• Mid-distance runners drop from the mile indoors to 1500m outdoors. There is also the addition of the 3,000m steeplechase and the 10,000m races.
• The biggest difference of course is the size of the track. Indoors is competed typically on a 200m track, and where the Lions mostly compete it's a 200m banked track. Outdoors doubles in size to a 400m flat track.

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court competed two weeks ago at the Millersville Metrics.
• GCU had two hit NCAA provisional qualifying marks in Mark Linton and Malicah Etienne in the discus.
• Linton won two events at the meet, the discus and hammer throw. Ryan Pettrow in the 800m was also an event winner.

New Look Top-10
• On the outdoor top-10 list, Georgian Court has 25 new marks for 2026.
• Daizhae' Brown and Sigurlaug Sveinsdottir are each in two events on the women's side.
• Fellow freshman Sophia Mauro in the 800m and Sydney Hurley in the pole vault have cracked the top-10.
• Throwers Kaydence Fischer and Chiamaka Wokocha have seen improvements in the discus and hammer throw, respectfully.
• In the men's throws, there have eight new marks. Cameren Anderson stamped his name in the record books in all four throwing events.
Guius Dabney in the shot put, Malicah Etienne in the discus and Mark Linton and Amir Spruell-Everson in the hammer throw have new 2026 marks in the top-10.
• GCU is still looking for their first new school record in an outdoor event. Barone Vankline might be the closest. He moved to second all-time in the 100m dash. He's also fourth in the 200m.
• The sprints also have Brandon Rudder with a new PR in the 200m, Brian Kutney in the 110m hurdles and Gary Boyd, Jr. in the 400m hurdles.
Nolan Kus in the 5K and Matthew Schaub in the 10K represent the distance runners in the top-10 this season.
Shona Mutokuto in the triple jump and Sean Donnamaria in the pole vault are two GCU jumpers with top-10 marks in 2026.

What to Watch
• After this meet, there's just one weekend left of the regular season before the CACC Championships.
• The Lions have already hit 52 CACC qualifying marks for the May 1-2 Championships.
• Georgian Court is sending the full team to Shippensburg with 44 competing, 28 men and 16 women.
• The distance group is running on the shorter end of the distance spectrum. Most are running 800m and/or 1500m.
• Some athletes will look to hit CACC qualifying marks in events they haven't competed in yet this outdoor season as GCU tries to strengthen their position for the conference meet, adding more options and versatility to the mix.
• The Lions ran their first outdoor 4x400m relay in the last meet. This week they are entered in and could run their first 4x100m relay of the season.

Georgian Court Awards
• Unfortunately for GCU, no meet meant no CACC weekly awards.
• That put an end to three straight weeks with multiple award winners.
• Already this season, GCU has had eight earn CACC Athlete of Rookie of the Week honors in three weekly reports.

GCU Rankings
• In the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings, Georigan Court ranks first in the CACC on the men's side and 10th in the region.
• The Lion women rank fourth in the conference and 12th in the East Region.
• The USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings has the GCU men's discus throwers ranked 11th as a squad.

National Qualifiers
• At the Lions last meet, both Mark Linton and Malicah Etienne hit national qualifying marks in the discus.
• They are two of six total athletes from the CACC to have hit provisional qualifiers.

The Outdoor Schedule
• The first two weeks, GCU competed in their home state of New Jersey at Stockton and Monmouth.
• They now head to Pennsylvania for two weeks at Millersville and the annual Shippensburg Mid-Week Bonanza.
• The final week of the regular season sees the historic Penn Relays as well as the TCNJ Lions Invitaitonal.
• The 2026 CACC Championship meet is once again hosted by Georgian Court. That's held Friday-Saturday, May 1-2.
