MILLERSVILLE, Pa. (April 4, 2026) - Georgian Court Track and Field continued on in their 2026 outdoor season. This week, the Lions were at the Millersville Metric where they continued the strong start to their season.
Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
• Georgian Court had a finalist in each of the men's and women's 100m dash and 100m/110m hurdles.
•
Shalom Adzakro was the only one to improve her time in the finals. She ran 15.54 for second place in the 100m hurdles.
•
Daizhae' Brown was excellent in the prelims running 12.26. That time is fourth all-time in GCU history. In the finals she ran 12.39 for second place overall.
•
Barone Vankline, like Brown, set a personal-best in the 100m prelims. He ran 10.93 which is second all-time at GCU and just the third Lion to run below 11 seconds in the event. He finished sixth in the finals running 11.00.
• Vankline also ran the 200m where he was fourth in 22.30. He was bested by teammate
Brandon Rudder who ran 22.21 for third place. That's also a personal-best for Rudder.
•
Leela McConnell was the only Lion on the women's side to run the 100m and 200m. She was 19th in the 100m running 13.59 and 20th in the 200m at 28.45.
•
Brian Kutney finished eighth in the prelims at 16.65 in the 110m hurdles but did not compete in the finals.
• GCU had a group in the 400m.
Sean Donnamaria finished 11th in 51.84,
James McCoy was one spot behind in 12th running 52.26 and
Marcos Murillo-Benavides was 14th in 52.53.
•
Abdul Brown ran his first of two personal-bests on the day. He was 36th at 400m running 59.03.
•
Nick Jordan took 29th in the 100m running 11.74 and
Joshua Tipaldo 52nd in 12.90.
• In the 400m hurdles,
Gary Boyd, Jr. finished 11th in 1:01.98.
• The Lions put two 4x400m relay teams together on the men's side. The group of Donnamaria, Murillo-Benavides, McCoy, Rudder ran 3:30.17 for third place. Spoonire, Pettrow, Lane and Broadbelt finished fifth in 3:40.39.
• The women's group of Burns, Mauro, Sprunger and Lonseth ran 4:46.41 for fourth place.
Distance
• The long distance events were run Friday night.
Nolan Kus had the unenviable task running the 5,000m and 10,000m with start times roughly 90 minutes apart. He started by finishing in eighth place in the 5K running 16:26.54. He then took second in the 10,000m, finishing in 36:34.00.
• Right behind Kus in the 10K was
Matthew Schaub. Running it for the first time collegiately, Schuab was third in 36:34.48 which puts him fifth all-time in Lions history.
• In the women's 5,000m,
Brenna Sullivan represented GCU. She ran 22:30.70 which put her in 22nd place.
• Most of the Lions distance group ran the 800m. They were led by
Ryan Pettrow who won the event in 1:58.98. That mark isn't far off from his personal-best time.
• GCU went 1-2 in the men's 800m.
Stephen Lane set a big personal-best running 2:00.77.
•
Zachary Spoonire finished in 12th place running 2:06.37.
•
Colin Broadbelt and
Abdul Brown each ran personal-bests in the event. Broadbelt finished 21st in 2:11.62 while Brown was 30th in 2:18.81.
• The Lion women also had a number of PR's in the 800m.
Sophia Mauro finished second running 2:23.78. That's an outdoor personal-best and moves her to seventh all-time at GCU.
•
Molly Burns and
Nora Sprunger finished two places apart in 14th and 16th place. Burns ran 2:39.29 and Sprunger 2:40.34.
•
Kerry Ann Hohenshilt took 26th place running 2:54.78.
Jumps
•
Chuck Smith finished in third place in the long jump. He had a mark of 20-3.75 which is an outdoor personal-best for the freshman. Competing in his first meet with the Lions,
Justin Agyare-Nkansah took 13th place with a mark of 19-0.
• The women's long jump saw
Sigurlaug Sveinsdottir take 11th place at 15-4.75.
•
Ivan Ramos-Lopez was the only Lion to clear a bar in the pole vault. He jumped 12-5.5 for fifth place.
• In the high jump,
Juliana Dogostino and
Daizhae' Brown both got over the bar at 4-11. Dogostino took fourth place due to fewer attempts while Brown was fifth.
•
Shona Mutokuto had a second place finish in the triple jump with his mark of 44-0.50.
Matthew Sutton was also in the top-10 taking seventh at 41-4.25.
Throws
• Georgian Court saw four big personal-bests Friday in the hammer throw. First was
Amir Spruell-Everson who finished in third place. He uncorked his final throw of the day 155-5 to move up in the final standings and into seventh all-time at Georgian Court.
• Spruell-Everson finished behind two teammates as the Lions went 1-2-3 in the event.
Mark Linton picked up the win. He threw 171-3 which came on his first throw of the day.
Cameren Anderson was second and another Lion who set a PR. He threw 160-10 to take second in the competition.
•
Guius Dabney hit a personal-best in the hammer as well throwing 137-3 and finished in seventh place.
Anthony Lorenzo was 13th throwing 123-11.
• The women's big PR in the hammer throw came from
Chiamaka Wokocha. She went beyond 50m for the first time, throwing 164-1 which put her in fourth place overall and moved her to fourth all-time in GCU as she's just the fourth Lion to ever throw 50m in the event.
•
Kaydence Fischer had a personal-best throw in the discus. She threw 141-3 for second place. She was also seventh in the shot put at 35-9.5.
• After her big PR Friday, Wokocha was just short of one Saturday in the discus. She threw 128-4 for fourth place. That's just one inch off of her GCU PR.
Sabrina Halk took 16th in 93-0.
•
Sigurlaug Sveinsdottir finished in sixth place in the shot put throwing 36-2.
• The Lion men had seven in the shot put and four finished in the top-10.
Malicah Etienne finished second throwing 50-8.75.
•
Cameren Anderson and
Mark Linton finished back-to-back in fourth and fifth. Anderson threw 48-6.25 and Linton 48-1.25.
•
Guius Dabney was in the top-10 taking seventh place at 45-10.5.
Thomas Menegus was just outside with an 11th place finish throwing 41-10.75 and
Anthony Lorenzo was 19th at 39-8.50.
• Anderson was also in the top-five taking third place in the javelin throwing 173-6 which is a GCU PR.
• Georgian Court went 1-2 in the men's discus.
Mark Linton was the winner throwing 171-11. Etienne threw a personal-best 169-7 for second place. Both of those marks are NCAA Division II qualifying throws.
• Menegus did have a top-10 finish in the discus. He threw 131-0 for ninth place.
Amir Spruell-Everson was 30th at 114-7.
Georgian Court has a week off. They next compete Thursday, April 16 at the Shippensburg Mid-Week Bonanza.
